Help us find VJ Day veterans and pay tribute to their service and sacrifice ⬇️

On 15th August, we’re hosting a Service of Remembrance in partnership with the UK Government, to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. This will take place at the National Memorial Arboretum, and we want to find as many VJ Day veterans as we can to attend.

While for many, VE Day signalled the end of fighting in Europe, the end of the Second World War would not have been possible without the combined efforts of all those who contributed in the Far East.

Around five million served in the British Armed Forces during the war, with millions more mobilised from pre-partition India, Australia, Canada, and other Commonwealth nations, including those in Africa and the Caribbean.

Today, our newly commissioned research estimates there to be approximately 8,000 Second World War veterans still with us in England and Wales.

We have a coach trip to the National Arboretum in Staffordshire on Saturday 31st may by coach and return. Pick up is at 7.a.m at Millwall Community, hope to be back by 6.30pm we have space for six. All we ask is a donation to the Branch.
