Banks are profiting from the cost of living crisis - just like oil & gas companies - so we believe they deserve a windfall tax like them too.

Our windfall tax on banks would bring in £19 billion from Britain’s four biggest banks alone (and over £20 billion if you add in Santander!) enough to cover Andy Burnham’s VAT cut on electricity bills ⚡ the £2 bus cap 🚌 and pub, club, and music venue🕺 business rate cuts *more than 13* times over.

Let's find out whose side this new government is really on, let's

"It brings collective profits for the four largest banks – HSBC, NatWest, Barclays and Lloyds – to £29.2bn over the first six months of the year, putting lenders back in the crosshairs of campaigners, including Positive Money and the Trades Union Congress, who are calling for a fresh tax on the lucrative industry."

Levy could raise £19bn to help pay for Andy Burnham’s support for those struggling with bills, say campaigners

"of all the tax opportunities out there, a tax on banks, I would say, is the most likely thing to happen in a Budget"

Great to have Sky News' Economics and Data Editor Ed Conway name bank taxes as one of the easiest things for Andy Burnham & John Healey to do this autumn!

Although one correction Ed; our proposal to would bring in more than a few billion - a 38% rate on banks’ UK profits (in line with windfall taxes on oil & gas companies) would raise £19 billion from the big four banks alone 💰 £20bn+ if you add Santander!

Let's make sure stays at the top of the new Chancellor's list! If you haven't yet, add your name to 👉 bit.ly/TaxTheBanks now

⚡ Our new analysis finds that a windfall tax on bank profits could bring in *£19 billion* from just the UK's four biggest banks if announced in the Autumn Budget
..enough to cover Andy Burnham’s VAT cut on electricity bills, the £2 bus cap and pub, club & music venue business rate cuts *MORE THAN 13* times over.

Their profits for the first half of 2026 were £29.2bn (up 21% on the same period last year) 🤑

Decades ago, public money was used to fund the building of millions of council homes, so that everyone had a safe place to live.

Then those homes were sold off, leaving many councils with nowhere to house people in need.

Creating a public fund so councils can buy back homes would help fix this 👇

Gary Greenwood, an analyst at investment bank Shore Capital, said: They are all trying to pretend they’re doing their best to support the UK economy, but at the same time their profits are going up.”

Rather than helping small businesses, big banks are driving the inequality, climate, and housing crises - and piling up profits at the same time!
