This afternoon, on behalf of TLH Kicking Cancer, I had the pleasure of presenting Mike Allen, who is courageously fighting leukaemia, with a cheque for £685.

The money was raised during our Walking Football Tournament held on Saturday 7th March at The Lewisham Lions’ Centre, Millwall, in honour and memory of Tony Linforth-Hall.

Tony founded our walking football team, Pride of Lions, and sadly passed away on 14th July 2023. In his memory, I founded TLH Kicking Cancer to continue his spirit of community, friendship and support.

The tournament was organised to raise funds to help Mike Allen and his family during this very difficult time. Mike plays for Pimlico Old Burgundians and is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia.

Thank you to everyone who took part in Saturday’s event at Millwall, and to the players who contributed to the team entrance fee of £50. A special thank you also to all the walking footballers who were unable to play or were not directly involved in the tournament but still offered their support, and to those who helped on the day.

Your kindness and generosity made this possible, and it is deeply appreciated. Tony believed strongly in friendship, solidarity and helping others, and I know he would be very proud to see everyone coming together in this way.

Today, on International Women’s Day, I would like to take a moment to celebrate and thank the extraordinary women who make such a difference in our lives and in our communities. 💜

In my work and in everyday life, I have the privilege of meeting so many remarkable women — mothers, daughters, sisters, carers, volunteers, professionals, and friends — who give so much of themselves to support others and make our community stronger.

Your dedication, resilience, kindness, and hard work inspire me every day. So much of what women do is done quietly and without recognition, yet it is essential to the wellbeing of our families and our society.

Today I want to say thank you. You have my deepest admiration and respect.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the wonderful women in our community and around the world. 🌷

Hoy quiero decir gracias. Tienen toda mi admiración y mi más profundo respeto.

Feliz Día Internacional de la Mujer a todas las maravillosas mujeres de nuestra comunidad y de todo el mundo. 🌷

Today was a truly wonderful and emotional day at our Walking Football Tournament in memory of Tony Linforth-Hall.
The tournament brought together four fantastic teams and was kindly hosted by Millwall. It was very special to see the walking football community come together not only to remember Tony, who founded the Pride of Lions team, but also to support an important cause.
After Tony passed away in July 2023, I founded TLH Kicking Cancer in his memory. Through the charity we try to support people and families facing cancer, continuing Tony’s spirit of kindness, friendship and community.
Today’s tournament was dedicated to raising funds for Mike Allen, from Pimlico Old Burgundians, who is courageously battling leukaemia and currently undergoing treatment. The support, solidarity and generosity shown today were truly moving.
A heartfelt thank you to all the teams who participated, to everyone who helped organise the event, and to Millwall for hosting us. Your support means so much.
Tony would have been incredibly proud to see everyone together, playing the game he loved and helping others at the same time.
Tony’s love for football and for people continues to inspire us all. Through TLH Kicking Cancer his kindness and spirit continue to bring people together and help others.

When the Post Doesn’t Arrive, Communities Suffer ✉️

As a Liberal Democrat Councillor in Southwark, I’ve seen how much the simple act of delivering letters matters — especially for elderly and vulnerable residents.

In 2015, at Rolland Hill House, deliveries stopped entirely after a postman was attacked. For nine months, residents were left without their mail — missing NHS appointments, late bills, and crucial correspondence.

I couldn’t let this continue. I accompanied the postman, bag in hand, to ensure deliveries could resume safely. I also led a sustained press campaign and worked tirelessly with Royal Mail to restore service. After months of effort, mail started moving again, and residents could rely on their post once more.

Today, across the UK, Royal Mail is again experiencing widespread delays. Residents are missing appointments, receiving important letters late, and facing unnecessary stress. Postal services are essential public infrastructure — not a convenience.

If your mail isn’t arriving, speak up. Communities depend on this, and accountability matters.
