In the historic Long Room at Lord's Cricket Ground we launched our flagship programme - The Great Catch - to urgently tackle the prostate cancer mortality crisis in the Caribbean.

It was a wonderful evening, hosted by our ambassador Clive Myrie, that celebrated the legendary West Indies team of 1976 and the power of sport to bring about meaningful change.

Our Founder, Sir Clive Lloyd, was joined by fellow greats of the game: Sir Gordon Greenidge, Sir Viv Richards, Lord Ian Botham and Brian Lara, who spoke passionately about the importance of men talking about their health and the urgent need to tackle barriers to testing and treatment for men in the Caribbean.

As well as the greats of the game, we were proud to host High Commissioners from across the Caribbean, our UK charity partners and doctors working on the front line of this crisis - all united in our mission, to reduce prostate cancer mortality for black men.

A huge thank you to our generous donors - we raised vital funds to launch the Foundation and start our urgent work to tackle the prostate cancer crisis in the Caribbean.

Everybody at the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the great Sir Garfield Sobers.

A pioneer, a leader and a symbol of Caribbean excellence as well as a true friend to Sir Clive, his impact transcended the sport.

We honour him and his extraordinary legacy today and extend our condolences to his family and loved ones.

Every one of us knows a father, brother, uncle, partner or friend whose life has been touched by prostate cancer.

For men of African and Caribbean heritage, the risk is higher, yet too many are still diagnosed when treatment can be more difficult and the impact on families can be devastating.

We are proud to work with the prostate cancer community in the UK and are supporting Prostate Cancer Research's petition calling for a Parliamentary debate on prostate cancer screening.

As well as a cricketing Q&A, Sir Clive Lloyd talked about his ambition to reduce prostate cancer mortality in the Caribbean and pledged to work with urologists all across the world to make this happen.

🏏 Join us for an exclusive evening with Sir Clive Lloyd at BAUS 2026 for members of the British Association of Urological Surgeons.

BAUS 2026 is delighted to welcome Sir Clive Lloyd - one of cricket’s most iconic leaders - to a drinks reception on Monday 15 June.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest captains of all time, Sir Clive led the West Indies from 1974 to 1985, overseeing their rise to become one of the most dominant Test and One Day International sides of the 20th century.

During the reception, Sir Clive will take part in a short, 10-minute Q&A reflecting on his remarkable career and the importance surrounding men's health in the Caribean community, while Ian Jackson, CEO of the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation, will discuss the Foundation's ongoing work - including the Great Catch programme.

Through this initiative, the Foundation is championing a critical global health agenda - working to reduce prostate cancer mortality across the Caribbean, where it remains the leading cause of death among men.

We are delighted to be partnering with The Institute of Cancer Research on their world-leading research into prostate cancer genetics.

A huge thank you to Professor Rosalind Eeles and her team who welcomed us to their cutting edge lab at the ICR.

As part of the Great Catch, we want to fund Caribbean participation in the PRACTICAL study — a major international consortium bringing together data from over 120,000 prostate cancer cases and 100,000 controls to identify the genetic factors that influence prostate cancer risk. The study’s goal is to understand inherited risk and improve early detection and outcomes for men worldwide.

Whilst black men face a disproportionately higher risk of prostate cancer, they are significantly underrepresented in global research. It is essential that we improve representation of black men in genetic studies such as PRACTICAL to help improve outcomes for men in the Caribbean and black men globally.

Professor Ros Eeles said:

“We were absolutely delighted to welcome Sir Clive and his trustees to the ICR today. Their passion and commitment to improving outcomes for men with prostate cancer in the Caribbean is truly inspiring.
