A Nigerian doctor shares the painful reality behind the profession many once dreamed of. After years of training to become the future of healthcare, he now faces a system where a child can die simply because ₦5,000 for oxygen is out of reach.

Exhausted from a 36-hour shift, juggling the work of many hands alone, he reflects on the lives he saves and the ones he cannot.

In a country where one doctor serves thousands, the burden grows heavier each day and while the world looks on, the healers are slowly fading.

Christian missionary Alex Barbir denied claims on TVC News that his work in Northern Nigeria is politically sponsored, stating it is funded by churches, charities, and private donors.

He said his efforts focus on rebuilding communities affected by violence, especially in Benue and Plateau states. Barbir stressed that he does not support violence but believes vulnerable communities have a right to defend themselves when unprotected.

He is widely viewed by supporters as an advocate for marginalized groups despite the allegations against him.

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has reportedly boasted: “Having served as Minister of Power, I have accumulated enough money that I will never be broke again, even if I never get another political appointment.”

According to 247UreportsThe Nigerian public has reacted with unprecedented bitterness, viewing Adelabu’s comments as the ultimate proof of the “transactional politics” defining the President Bola Tinubu administration. From the markets of Lagos to the grieving communities in Plateau and Nasarawa, the condemnation is absolute. Outraged citizens have slammed the government for prioritizing the enrichment of its appointees over the basic survival of the people.

“He is boasting about never being broke while we are sitting in darkness and can’t afford bread,” one distraught resident in Abuja cried out. “This is the ‘Renewed Hope’ they promised—ministers getting rich while the poor are buried in darkness. Tinubu has turned governance into a commercial enterprise where every appointment is just a chance to loot.”

A bright young girl sparked reactions online after sharing a heartfelt message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the struggles many Nigerians face daily.

In the emotional message, she speaks about living with electricity only once a week despite Nigeria supplying power to other countries.

She questions why communities were forgotten for years, yet promises like free buses appear during campaign season. She also highlights the country’s many natural resources and the need to look beyond crude oil.

Her honest words raise concern about electricity, leadership, and the future of Nigeria. Even a child knows the hardship is real.

It is unacceptable for a public official to make statements that appear to encourage violence, particularly in response to dissenting views expressed in a democratic setting.

Boasting about shooting a journalist for offering an opinion on national television is highly reckless and undermines the principles of freedom of speech, accountability, and the rule of law.

Public officials have a responsibility to uphold democratic discourse, and model restraint even when criticized. Wike's comments risk normalizing intimidation and could be detrimental to journalists and citizens.

Nigerians must feel safe to express their views without fear of violent retaliation. Wike's comments have no place in governance and must be condemned.

When a fuel tanker falls and people rush to scoop leaking petrol, the risk is immediate and life-threatening. Petrol is highly flammable, and all it takes is a single spark from a phone, a vehicle, static electricity, or even friction, for the entire area to burst into flames leading to severe burns or loss of lives.

The government must assess why people are taking these risks. The on-going fuel scarcity, poverty, and economic pressure can push individuals into making these decisions that can potentially take their lives.

Where is the emergency response team tasked with dealing with the problem? Where is public safety awareness? Proper crowd control is needed here, with rapid intervention, and education about the serious dangers of fuel exposure.

President Tinubu’s visit to the UK was hosted with full state courtesy at Windsor Castle, showing the formal respect accorded to Nigeria as a nation. However, beyond the ceremony and diplomatic courtesy, questions arise about the deeper perception of leadership and governance.

While the British establishment engages for mutual benefit, true respect on the global stage is often tied to a nation’s internal stability, economic strength, and effective leadership.

With ongoing challenges in Nigeria, ranging from insecurity to economic hardship, the visit invites reflection on how leadership is perceived internationally.

As the visit concludes, it raises an important question:

1. Was Tinubu's visit simply diplomatic courtesy, or genuine respect earned on the strength of governance?

Yes or No?

Alarming reports from Ozoro, Delta State, Nigeria, described widespread sexual violence allegedly occurring under the guise of a “festival,” placing women and girls at serious risk.

There had been warnings for females to stay indoors and concerns for students and visitors, highlighting a grave failure of protection and accountability in the community.

Following public outrage, those who reportedly planned the event without the knowledge of the community’s King have been arrested by the Nigerian police, and the festival has been banned with immediate effect by the King.

This underscores the urgent need to safeguard lives and uphold fundamental human rights.
