This year, is on the 26th of March.

Social prescribing is an approach that connects people to activities, groups, and services in their community to meet the practical, social and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing. Social prescribing can offer key support for people and carers of people living with dementia, such as making referrals to support groups or financial aid.

Social Prescribing Day is an annual celebration to raise awareness of social prescribing and of the people, organisations and communities who make it happen.

Music can be a lifeline for people living with dementia and their carers.

While dementia is a progressive condition without a cure, music can improve mood, offer opportunities for self-expression and creativity, strengthen personal relationships, and reconnect people to those they love.

Research suggests that engagement with music can offer significant social, emotional and cognitive benefits for people living with dementia.

The Power of Music Fund, managed by The National Academy for Social Prescribing, uses music to support health and wellbeing for a range of conditions.

A UK charity, Raise Your Voice, records original music by people living with dementia.

โ€œThe music stands as proof that dementia does not erase the capacity for creation. And that the act of making โ€“ listening, remembering and composing โ€“ can forge new pathways for expression and connection long after memory begins to fade.โ€ - Phil Dover, co-founder of the charity.
