About Us
King Henry VIII (1509-1547) is the most famous of dynastic monarchs. From his beginnings as a Prince to being King. Henry married six times producing a boy and two girls to continue the Tudor dynasty, as well as illegitimate children from misteresses. He endured issues and conflicts with his courtiers and, loyal subjects to the pope who refused to grant Henry a divorce. This lead a break away from the church of Rome (Catholic). To create a new church and make himself the supreme head of the church. This became the Church of England also known as the Protestant church which still exists today. He built sumptious places which some still stand today and can be visited. There are some places that were demolished and no longer stand, a sad reality...
Our purpose is to look into the time he lived in the movers and the shakers of the time. Covering a wide range of topics and the 16th century in a whole.
Over the next coming years as a society we aim to :-
