Please join our society which promotes all things English. The Society quickly attracted the support of many distinguished public figures in England and throughout the British Empire. Its first Royal Patron was Queen Victoria; and the society has enjoyed the Patronage of every reigning monarch from that day to this. Our present sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in 1963, bestowed a notable honour by granting the Society its own Royal Charter, a distinction of which its members are justifiably proud.

Each year we hold the Waterloo-Trafalgar Luncheon in conjunction with The Royal Society of St. George. It focuses either on an historical topic or the news story of the year. This year's topic is—Enhanced Trade within the Commonwealth.

The recent actions of the United States Government to create an "America First,” or, "Fortress America,” or to "Enact the Munroe Doctrine," or to execute "Project 2025" have caused the international trade and world political order, successfully in place since 1946, to dissolve. In the centre of this seeming state of chaos, new alignments of nations, groupings and regions are starting to emerge. Enhanced Trade within the Commonwealth is one of them.

The Commonwealth is home to an amazing 1/4 of the world's markets and home to 1/3rd of its consumers. It is united by the three Commonwealth Commonalities of Language, Law and Legislative outcome. The Commonwealth has half a millennium of association and co-operation. Most of its consumers are under 40 years of age and a significant number of them are located in the emerging, dynamic, Indo-Pacific region. Simply put—this is a market ready to take off!

Come and join with us as we investigate this concept, the implications, and scope for changing the rules of International Trade. Enhanced Trade within the Commonwealth—a concept whose time has come!

CITY AND COUNTY OF BRISTOL BRANCH TRAFALGAR LUNCH

You are cordially invited to attend the Battle of Trafalgar 221st Anniversary Church service Sunday 18th October, at 11:00 am, at Christ Church with St. Ewen & St George, 65 Broad Street, Bristol 2EP.
This will be followed by a lunch to be held at 13:00 at the Clayton Hotel, 35-37 Broad Street, Bristol BS1 2EQ. (same venue as where the St George’s Day meal was held). The cost will be £35.00 per head.
The meal will consist of choice of:

Fillet of Cod
Dessert: Sticky Toffee Pudding
