FOSTERERS URGENTLY NEEDED – BE THE REASON A CAT FEELS SAFE AGAIN 🐾

Right now, there are cats across Hendon, Finchley and Mill Hill who have nowhere to go.
Some have been abandoned.
Some have been living on the streets.
Some have never known what a safe home feels like.
We can help them, but only if we have foster homes.
This is where you come in.

We are looking for kind, reliable people to open their homes temporarily and give these cats a second chance at life, while we find them their forever families.

📍 We particularly need fosterers in:
EN5
HA7, HA8
N2, N3, N12, N20
NW4, NW7, NW9, NW11
WD6, WD7, WD23

💛 What fostering involves:
You provide a safe, quiet space and daily care
We cover all costs – food, litter, equipment, and vet care
We support you every step of the way with guidance and training

🚗 What you’ll need:
A spare room where the cat can settle safely
A car (to collect supplies in Edgware and attend our vets in Canons Park)
Home ownership or landlord permission if renting
Patience, compassion, and reliability

✨ Why it matters:
Fostering saves lives. It gives frightened, vulnerable cats the chance to recover, trust again, and move on to loving homes.
You’re not “just” fostering, you are the bridge between abandonment and a better life.

🐾 A great example of collaboration in action 🐾
💜💙 Meet Luna a kitten just under 6 months old 💙💜

Luna came to us after a member of the public contacted Kitty Kat Rescue & Rehoming Hertfordshire Charity 1199095 about a young cat in urgent need of help. As they were at capacity, they reached out to Cats Protection Hendon, Finchley & Mill Hill.
Working together with the RSPCA Finchley, we were able to step in quickly and ensure she received the care she needed.

Luna was found to have a fractured hip and has now undergone surgery, funded by Cats Protection Hendon. We’re very pleased to share that she is recovering well 💜

RSPCA Finchley will continue to support Luna’s journey by covering her aftercare, including spaying, microchipping, flea and worming, vaccinations, and when she is ready, finding her a safe and loving new home 💙

This is what collaboration looks like: charities working together to make sure no cat is left without help.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved, including Kitty Kat Rescue & Rehoming Hertfordshire Charity 1199095 for reaching out, our veterinary partners, and all those supporting this work behind the scenes 💜💙

🐾 Love cats? Want to make a real difference? Join our TNR Team – NW London 🐾

Cats Protection Hendon & Finchley is looking for passionate volunteers to join our Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) team – helping stray and feral cats live safer, healthier lives.
TNR is the most humane way to manage stray cats – stopping breeding, reducing suffering, and stabilising colonies by preventing fighting and mating behaviours.

💙 Why you’ll love it
• See the real impact of your work – fewer kittens born into hardship
• Be part of hands-on rescue work
• Work alongside our vet partners and experienced welfare teams
• Join a supportive, like-minded community
• Take part in joint operations with RSPCA Finchley and RSPCA North West London and South Hertfordshire Branch CIO helping three charities at once!!

• All veterinary costs covered for cats under the TNR operation
• Expenses reimbursed
⚠️ All activity is coordinated through the branch to ensure safe, consistent and welfare-led delivery

🐾 Supporting stray cats through Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) 🐾
A key part of our work at the branch is Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) — a structured, welfare-led approach to managing stray and feral cat populations humanely and effectively.

TNR involves safely trapping cats, providing veterinary treatment including neutering and returning them to their territory where they are monitored and supported. This helps prevent the cycle of uncontrolled breeding and improves overall welfare.

This work is delivered by our TNR team of dedicated volunteers, and requires careful coordination, veterinary care, and essential supplies such as food and equipment — used during trapping, transport and short-term recovery.

To support this, we’ve created an Amazon Wish List with items we regularly need. These are delivered directly to the branch and used where they are most needed.

If you’d like to support our work, you can do so here:

Thank you for helping us care for cats in our community. 💜

🐾 Need help with neutering a cat? We may be able to support 🐾

Neutering is one of the most important things we can do to improve cat welfare and prevent more unwanted litters.

At Cats Protection Hendon, Finchley & Mill Hill, we support:

• Stray and feral cats through Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR)
• Owned cats where financial support may be needed (subject to eligibility)

If you’re feeding a stray cat or are concerned about unneutered cats in your area, getting in touch early really helps us plan safely and effectively.

📍 We cover: EN5, HA7, HA8, N12, N2, N20, N3, NW11, NW4, NW7, NW9, WD6, WD7, WD23*

We can occasionally cover other postcodes working in collaboration with the RSPCA Finchley and other branches within the two charities.

As a volunteer-run branch, support is provided based on welfare need, available funding, and vet capacity, particularly during busy periods.
