Ceramic artist Jihyun Kim makes enchanting artworks inspired by Korean traditions and rituals.

Her ‘Salty Fairy Ring’ series is inspired by the belief that salt can ward off evil spirits, as well as the formation of mushrooms that grow in a circle, known as a ‘fairy ring’.

“Clay is one of the most abundant minerals on earth” -

In our latest artist portrait, we meet ceramicist and creator Sara Howard, who uses her practice to repair coral reefs in southeast Asia, collecting clay from city building sites and transforming it into a new home for coral to thrive.

Sara shows how design can heal rather than harm, reminding us that we are visitors on earth, and nature’s timeless creations deserve our deepest respect.
