Air cadets pack a punch for SSAFA Greater Manchester!🛍️🛒🫡

SSAFA Salford, Greater Manchester raised an impressive £571.34 at a bag pack at Asda Swinton last Saturday, with fantastic support from members of 1099 Squadron ATC.

SSAFA Community Engagement Volunteer Glin Horton was joined by fellow volunteers Marion Ricky and Joanne Coey, alongside the cadets, helping to pack shoppers’ bags and raise vital funds for SSAFA as well as chatting to customers about the support we provide to serving personnel, veterans and their families.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time – and, of course, to the generous Asda shoppers who donated. 💙

A great bit of teamwork and engagement in the heart of the Salford community!

A huge thank you to everyone who came to say hello to SSAFA Greater Manchester at Armed Forces Day at Winton Park, Eccles.

Our brilliant volunteers Ron Jarvis, Glinys Horton and Madeline Jarvis spent the day raising awareness of SSAFA and talking to lots of people about the support we offer to serving personnel, veterans and their families.

We were delighted to be joined by the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Councillor Robin Garrido, and the City Mayor of Salford, Paul Dennet, who was also representing Greater Manchester on behalf of Mayor Andy Burnham.

It was also lovely to welcome David Hallum from Salford Area Veterans Enterprise, who popped by to say hello.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who supported us, the branch raised £120.33 on the day.

Every conversation helps more people understand what SSAFA does — and every donation helps us continue supporting the Armed Forces community when they need us most.

Have you ever thought about becoming a volunteer caseworker?

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, is looking for compassionate people across Greater Manchester to join our amazing team of volunteer caseworkers.

Every day, members of the Armed Forces community, veterans and their families turn to us during some of the most difficult times in their lives. As a caseworker, you’ll be there to listen, offer practical support and help people access the assistance they need. It can genuinely change lives.

You don’t need to have served in the Armed Forces – just be a good listener, organised, reliable and passionate about helping others. Full training and ongoing support are provided, and you’ll become part of a friendly, welcoming team making a real difference in your local community.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, or you know someone who would be perfect for the role, we’d love to hear from you.
