A brand new exhibition at Osterley Park and House - National Trust reveals interwoven stories of weddings, migration and craftsmanship in a display of 70 intricately embroidered Punjabi wedding shawls: https://tinyurl.com/OsterleyJourneys

Renowned collector and curator Karun Thakar was inspired by a moment at Osterley itself, when he saw a Sikh wedding party outside, many of whom had never stepped inside. ‘I wanted to show them something of their own heritage within these walls,’ he said.

One especially moving piece is a fragment of textile carried by Thakar’s Aunt during Partition in 1947, used to conceal jewellery as she fled Lahore, a personal reminder of the journeys undertaken by millions.
