Rochford & Castle Point Ramblers

Rochford & Castle Point Ramblers This page is for information on the Rochford & Castle Point group of the Ramblers organisation.

We are a friendly, informal group established in 1994 with approximately 150 members. The area we cover surrounds Southend-on-Sea in south-east Essex and includes the Rochford and Castle Point districts, the Roach and Crouch estuaries and creeks with lengthy sea wall paths amid the abundant wildlife of the marshes. In the west of our area we have Thundersley and Benfleet with a variety of woodland

areas and Hadleigh Country Park. We extend in the south down to Canvey Island in the Thames estuary, in the east to Great Wakering and in the north to Rayleigh. Although the area is largely flat we nevertheless have some diverse scenery for the walker to enjoy.

Everyone’s welcome at parkwalk. Everyone starts at the same time and walks the same 5k parkrun route, alongside runners and volunteers. It’s free, fun, and a great way to stay active at your own pace.

Hello all, it's that time of the year again. The Spring walks program is now available via this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/11yf-zqQ_mMcRqpzOqXdmfkZFmlDe5uhz/view?usp=sharing where you can either read it online or download a copy to print out.
As usual we would like to thank the walk leaders, without whom there would be no walks, and, of course, to Helen who has so ably organised it all.

We are pleased to invite you and your members to participate in the Annual Ride and Stride, taking place on Saturday, 13th September 2025. This exciting event is part of a nationwide initiative and is organised locally by The Friends of Essex Churches Trust.
Whether you’re a rambler, cyclist, or simply an enthusiast of history and beautiful architecture, this is a unique opportunity to explore Essex’s places of worship while raising funds for their preservation.
How It Works: Participants are encouraged to visit as many churches and chapels as possible using any non-motorised mode of transport. Along the way, you’ll discover breathtaking buildings, many offering refreshments and a warm welcome. Every penny raised goes towards preserving these treasures for generations to come, with funds split between the Trust and your chosen church (or fully directed to the Trust if you prefer).

Event Highlights:
What: Annual Ride and Stride
When: Saturday, 13th September 2025
Where: Churches and chapels across Essex
Why: To explore, support, and ensure the future of Essex’s spectacular places of worship

Entry is free, and everyone is welcome, regardless of affiliation. Bring your friends, family, or go solo – your support makes a world of difference! To participate or learn more, visit our website https://www.friendsofessexchurches.org.uk/ride-stride.
Together, we can celebrate Essex’s rich heritage while contributing to its bright future.
We hope to see you on September 13th!
Warm regards
Rachel
