Phoenix Lodge No. 914 made an outstanding impression at the Cayman Half Yearly weekend. The delegation was expertly led by 2 senior Grand Officers, showcasing the lodge's commitment to excellence and fraternal representation.
The brethren distinguished themselves throughout the event, participating with great enthusiasm in both the Convocation and Communication sessions. Their presence and engagement reflected the caliber of membership that Phoenix Lodge is proud to uphold.
The highlight came with the magnificent Banquet that followed, where the brethren continued to embody the true spirit of Masonic fellowship and camaraderie.
All in attendance agreed it was an exceptional weekend that exemplified the finest values of Masonic brotherhood. The dedicated members of Phoenix Lodge No. 914 deserve recognition for their outstanding participation and the exemplary way they represented their lodge.

Today a contingent from Gray's Inn Lodge went on our annual trip to St Michael's Lodge 6683 at Orsett Masonic Hall, Essex. It was a wonderful all-day masonic meeting starting at 2:30pm in the bar, and finishing at 10pm - also in the bar! As ever we were given a very warm welcome, and it gave our recent initiates the chance to experience the atmosphere of a village masonic hall.

On Saturday morning it was Gray's Inn Lodge's privilege to host The Welcome Project and the Metropolitan Grand Stewards Demonstration Team. They performed a superb narrated demonstration of the First Degree, explaining the historical, symbolical and esoteric meanings and references in the ritual. Over forty brethren attended in total, from newly-made Entered Apprentice to VW Assistant Metropolitan Grand Master. If you haven't yet attended a narrated demonstration, you're missing out: it was a fantastic eye-opener into the meaning behind our ritual, and - even if you've seen the ceremony a hundred times before - you will still learn so much more.

True brotherhood isn't about secret grips or ceremonial aprons, indeed. It's about living a life authentically true to the moral obligations I've sworn. My journey to becoming a Mason wasn't defined by symbolic gestures, but by my unwavering commitment to my word. The real authentication lies not in ritual, but in the integrity of my actions. I find that my character, not any specific sign, truly reflects my dedication. This genuine adherence to my sworn duties is the only parameter that truly matters.

On 7 August 2026, seventy-five members of the Royal & Select Masters gathered at the Masonic Hall, 6 Portland Place, Penrith, for the reconstitution of Applegarth Council No. 30.

Originally established in Ambleside in 1904, Applegarth Council operated until 1909, when it surrendered its warrant. Over a century later, the idea of reviving the Council was first proposed by the late District Grand Master, Norman Dunkeld Milburn, although it failed to gain momentum. His successor, Right Illustrious Companion Douglas Graham Sanderson, renewed the initiative, and following approval from the Most Illustrious Grand Master, Kessick John Jones, in 2025, a group of founders met to bring the project to fruition.

Over the following months, the founders worked together to agree the Council's fees, officers, by-laws, meeting venue and arrangements for the reconstitution and celebratory luncheon. Although the original venue in Carlisle had to be abandoned following the closure of the Masonic Hall there.
