Hello Everyone,
Before I start my new posting…
Summary of what I have said before.
In this article, I share my personal journey and my commitment to education, skill development, and humanitarian service. As the Principal of a Skills Training Institution, I took responsibility for teaching English to the entire school. Through daily lessons, morning assemblies, and simple but powerful life principles, I helped instil discipline, confidence, and a love for learning among the students. Alongside teaching, I also ensured their accommodation and daily meals were provided, and at the end of the programme, I was pleased to see most students placed successfully in local apprenticeships.
I also reflect on my own background—from growing up and being educated in Sri Lanka, to building my life in the UK with my family. The experiences, challenges, and people I have encountered along the way have shaped me and strengthened my desire to support others and contribute positively to humanity.
This motivation led me to establish Make a Difference Sri Lanka (MDSL) in 2011, a UK-registered charity dedicated to supporting communities in the Northern and Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka who continue to feel the impact of the civil war. Despite the war ending in 2009, many people still face hardship, and MDSL was formed to help ease these struggles and support sustainable development.
I also explain the meaning behind our logo, which symbolises hard work, kindness, and the belief that small contributions can create a powerful collective impact. Finally, I introduce our latest initiative, Koottu Vilippu Pannai (VKP) in Kilinochchi—a project designed to create employment, provide skills training, and build sustainable livelihoods. Through this work, I continue to invite others to join me in making a meaningful and lasting difference in people’s lives.
Thank you and I will continue with my new posting soon.
Best Regards,
