🤍 As we pause our Grief Café for the summer, we are reflecting with gratitude on what we have built together over the past eight months.

When we started Breathe.Move.Heal CIC’s Grief Café, our vision was simple: to create a compassionate space where women could come exactly as they are with their stories, their tears, their questions, or simply their quiet presence.

Over the past eight months, we have welcomed more than 60 participant attendances, with an average of 8 women at each session. To protect the warmth and safety of the group, we intentionally limit each Grief Café to 10 participants, allowing everyone the opportunity to be heard, connect and feel truly seen.

While many women first come to us after the death of a loved one, our Grief Café has always been about grief in all its forms.

Because grief is not only about bereavement.

It can also follow divorce, illness, infertility or pregnancy loss, menopause, becoming a carer, immigration, redundancy, changes in identity, or letting go of the future we imagined.

We believe there is no hierarchy of grief. Every loss matters, and every person deserves compassion.

Throughout the year, we’ve explored topics including grief beyond bereavement, anger, guilt, anxiety, identity after loss, anniversaries, hope, self-compassion, and the connection between grief, the nervous system and the body.

One of the things that fills us with gratitude is our 90%+ return rate. Women didn’t just attend once they came back month after month, creating a community built on trust, kindness and genuine connection.

We have also been honoured to welcome women not only from Tower Hamlets but from other parts of London, all seeking a place where they could feel understood.

To every woman who sat in our circle, shared part of her story, listened with compassion, or simply showed up - thank you. You have helped create a space where grief no longer has to be carried alone.

✨ Our Grief Café will return in September. New dates will be announced during August.

If you’d like to join us, keep an eye on our link in bio or visit our website for upcoming dates, bookings and community events.

At Breathe.Move.Heal CIC, community is at the heart of everything we do. We create spaces where women can connect, feel supported, and improve their wellbeing together. Our programmes are community-led and co-produced, shaped by the voices, needs and priorities of the women we serve.

During Mental Health Awareness Week in May, we welcomed over 50 women from diverse cultures, backgrounds and faiths at the Teviot CommunityCentre Leaders in Community . Together, we shared conversations, creativity and connection through a range of wellbeing activities.

One of the highlights was our community tapestry workshop, beautifully facilitated by Sylvietta sketches Sylvietta , a beautiful artist from our community. Through embroidery and drawing, women were invited to slow down, express themselves, and create something meaningful together.

When women come together, communities heal.

Living With Loss: Understanding Grief Workshop.

Hosted by Breathe.Move.Heal CIC as part of our monthly Grief Café

Grief is a natural response to loss, change, and life transitions, yet many of us are never taught how to understand it or move through it with compassion.

Living With Loss is a free, welcoming workshop offering space to gently explore grief in all its forms. Together we will look at emotional responses, types of grief, and supportive coping tools for healing and wellbeing.

Grief can come through many experiences, including:
• Bereavement and death
• Relationship breakdown or divorce
• Immigration and separation from loved ones
• Loss of health, identity, or independence
• Parenting challenges or diagnosis
• Caring for a child with additional needs
• Loss of dreams, work, or stability
• Life transitions and emotional overwhelm

Whatever your experience, you are welcome here.

A compassionate space where grief is acknowledged, honoured, and held with care.

✨ Free workshop | Everyone welcome ✨

Dear lovely ladies,

I have exciting news, in June, July and September I will be holding a space for grief - I will be facilitating a Grief Movement workshop . You asked me to start offering grief movement sessions at Poplar Union, we have created this opportunity for you.

The workshop will offer a safe space for women to move through emotions that often stay quietly stored in the body – unspoken grief, tender memories, and feelings that sometimes feel too heavy to carry alone.

Important note: any type of grief and loss is welcome, not only death of loved one 🙏🏼.

Grief doesn’t only live in the mind; it lives in our muscles, our breath, and our hearts. Through gentle movement, breath, and embodied practices, we create space to release what weighs us down, to soften the tension we hold, and to honour our stories with compassion.

In collaboration with we are inviting you to monthly grief movement workshops:

✨ This women-only workshop is a safe and supportive space.

✨ No previous experience is needed – just come as you are, with an open heart.

🕒 2 - hour workshop – once a month June, July and September.

Together, we will move, breathe, and allow what needs to be felt to gently shift.

If you are longing for a space to be held, to release, and to reconnect with yourself, I warmly invite you to join us.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out 🙏🏼🧘🏻‍♀️

Eid al-Adha Mubarak to everyone celebrating today.🤲🏻✨

While Eid is a beautiful and meaningful time, it can also bring up deep emotions and memories, especially when we are far away from our loved ones or grieving those we have lost.

I always feel homesick during important celebrations like this because my extended Tajik family is so far away. And if you are feeling the same, missing home, missing family, or carrying grief in your heart, please be gentle with yourself today.

You are not alone, and I’m sending you so much love and warmth ❤️

Big hugs
