Families may apply for up to £1,000 for a single item or multiple items, or to part-fund a more expensive item. Those items can include:

📱 communication devices
🧸 sensory toys

Today, we mark Rare Disease Day — a moment to stand with the 3.5 million people living with a rare condition.

While each rare disease affects a small number of people, together they represent a significant part of our communities, our NHS, and our families. Many individuals face long waits for diagnosis, limited treatment options, and challenges accessing specialist services.

That’s why this year’s focus on equity for rare is so important:

Faster, more accurate diagnoses within the NHS

Fair access to specialist care, wherever you live in the UK

Availability of innovative treatments

Stronger support for carers and families

Continued investment in UK-based research
