Oinousses is a group of small islands located in the North-Eastern Aegean

The Oinoussai Benevolent Fund was set up by Oinoussians living in London in 1942 to help those compatriots on the island of Oinousses who were suffering from wartime difficulties.

This year’s AGM was held at the Hellenic Centre, London, W1 on 29 April 2026 at 7pm. The president gave his annual address which included a review of the fund’s activities and spoke in great detail about the achievements of OBF during the last twelve months. The president ended his speech by describing the exciting projects taking place on the island and some events to be hosted by OBF that we can look forward to this year.

On Wednesday 28 January 2026 at the Crypt of Agia Sophia Cathedral, we enjoyed a special vasilopita cutting event organised by The Greeks in The City Association co- sponsored by OBF and other Greek initiatives. Our President, John M Hadjipateras spoke about the history of OBF which is the oldest organisation of its kind in the UK and the work we have done over the years. The Vasilopita was blessed, distributed and we were glad to see even more people at the event then last year.

Στις 28 Ιανουαρίου στη κρύπτη της Αγίας Σοφίας είχαμε τη χαρά να παραβρεθούμε στη κοπή βασιλόπιτας που οργάνωσε η Ένωση Ελλήνων Επαγγελματίων Λονδίνου με τη χορήγηση του ΤΕΟ μαζι με άλλα Ελληνικά σωματεία του Λονδίνου. Είχε πολλή μεγάλη συμμετοχή και περάσαμε όμορφα. Ο πρόεδρος μας, Γιάννης Μ Χατζηπατερα, μίλησε για την ιστορία του ΤΕΟ και το φιλανθρωπικό έργο που κάνουμε. Στη κοπή της βασιλόπιτας, ο Έλληνας Πρέσβης Κύριος Ιωάννης Τσαούσης μίλησε με αισιοδοξία για μια καλή χρονιά.

On Sunday 14th December, at the Christmas Wonderland in Oinousses, the traditional festive party organised by TEO took place. As in previous years, Christmas gifts were purchased locally from the two gift shops and were given to all the children on the island. Father Christmas made an appearance and gave each child their gift. Festive music was playing in the background. The Periptero (kiosk) offered food and drinks for all sponsored by TEO along with savoury food from the bakery. The event was very well attended and has become a lovely tradition for over 30 years giving joy and festive spirit to the island community.

Ένας ξεχωριστός καλεσμένος επισκέφθηκε την Κυριακή 14 Δεκεμβρίου τα παιδιά της Εγνούσσας. Φορούσε κόκκινη στολή και είχε άσπρα μαλλιά και ήταν φορτωμένος με πολλά δώρα. Τα παιδάκια συγκεντρωμένα όλα στο Χριστουγεννιάτικο χωριό τον περίμεναν στολισμένα με περίσσια αγάπη και πολύ ενθουσιασμό. Μέσα σε αυτήν την όμορφη ξεχωριστή εορταστική ατμόσφαιρα των Χριστουγέννων πήραν τα δώρα τους, έπαιξαν, γέλασαν και έβγαλαν φωτογραφίες αγκαλιά με τον Αη-Βασίλη. Η Χριστουγεννιάτικη αυτή εορτή έχει καθιερωθεί εδώ και πολλά χρόνια να πραγματοποιείται πάνω στο ακριτικό νησί μας τις άγιες μέρες των Χριστουγέννων και αποτελεί ευγενική χορηγία του Ταμείου Ευπραγίας Οινουσσών της Εγνουσσιώτικης κοινότητας του Λονδίνου.

The Oinoussai Benevolent Fund is getting ready to host this year’s Christmas event in Aignoussa. OBF will be inviting all the children up to the age of 12 to the Winter Wonderland village which is being set up on the island and have arranged for Santa Claus to deliver the traditional Christmas gifts to all the children.
