Huge congratulations to Alexander House Care Home Wimbledon for their winning entry to our Planter competition! 🌷

Their submission was inspired by the Wimbledon tennis!

"We know how lucky we are at Alexander House to be living so close to Wimbledon’s All England Lawn Tennis Club.

June is our month we love to watch tennis on the TV, try to spot celebrities in the village but most importantly enjoy eating strawberries...especially the ones grown in our garden.

It’s strawberries and cream time in our Alexander Family."

Our Praise Prayer and Togetherness Service this week focused on the theme of 'joy'. We talked about the joy that faith in Jesus brings, and shared some lovely reflections of the things that bring each of us joy 💛

Whether it's planting seeds, tending flower beds, or simply enjoying the colours and wildlife that gardens attract, gardening creates opportunities for connection, wellbeing and purpose.

Earlier this year, we explored why gardening is so much more than a pastime, and the positive impact it can have on the wellbeing of those who live and work within our communities. These gorgeous sunflowers are a perfect example of that in action. 🌱

In our latest Praise, Prayer & Togetherness Service we marked the significance of having God as our loving Heavenly Father. Residents from across our communities joined together to sing hymns, reflect and pray together. As always, it was a joy filled service 🥰

These services are such a great opportunity for staff and residents to get together, sharing stories and reflections, and worship the God who loves us unconditionally.

At Keychange, we believe in creating communities where everyone is valued, and our staff bring that vision to life every day through their compassion, professionalism and commitment to the people we support.

Each month, we take the time to recognise those individuals who have gone above and beyond in their roles, delivering great work in care, supporting colleagues and being a team player.

We're delighted to award Keira, Esther and Becca for their contributions as part of our latest Keychange Cares Award.

Here's a brief snippet of their nominations:
Keira - for dealing with some difficult situations and going above and beyond in her role at Romans. For excellence as an Infection Control Champion and being well regarded by colleagues👏

Esther - for her kindness, patience, hard working nature and in particular, time spent with a resident who lives with dementia who was agitated about missing church. Esther provided reassurance to the individual, and prayed with her to ask God to show them the way 🙏❤️

Becca - for working independently to follow up a fundraising lead, resulting in a cash donation to Wayside, alongside feminine hygiene products for distribution amongst the residents. Amazing!

Loneliness affects thousands of older people - but it doesn’t have to.

At Keychange, we believe everyone deserves to feel part of a community where they are known, welcomed and supported. Our Community Connectors project walks alongside people aged 65+, helping them rediscover connection, confidence and a renewed sense of belonging.

Community Connectors is currently being piloted in Southwick, West Sussex. As the service grows, we would love your support. If you feel able to send a gift, you’ll be helping us embed Community Connectors in Southwick and extend this life‑changing work to other areas. Loneliness doesn’t belong to one age group or stage of life.

It can affect people living in supported housing, in care homes, people surrounded by others or individuals navigating a life change, loss or uncertainty. Sometimes it’s visible. Often, it isn’t.

Across our housing and care communities, we have created places that are more than accommodation or support. We focus on building genuine connection based on individual choice, and support moments of enjoyment, meaning and purpose. We ensure all voices are heard, and create environments where people feel seen, respected and part of the community.

Loneliness isn’t always about motivation - often it’s about barriers.

As part of our Community Connectors project, we conducted research that found poor transport, lack of information, inaccessible venues, and digital exclusion all make it harder for older people to stay connected.

In response to these insights, a Transport Round Table was organised, bringing together stakeholders to hear a range of perspectives on the challenges older people face and discuss steps to address them. Project Lead, Alex discusses this further in our thought piece below.

Our focus is on enabling participation and minimising practical barriers, because connection isn’t possible if people can’t take part.

In December, we published Building Connections – Insights into the Older Community of Southwick, which highlighted something residents had been telling us for months: transport is the biggest barrier preventing older people in Southwick from staying connected.
