In our latest Praise, Prayer and Togetherness Service, we celebrated God’s beautiful gift of friendship and community 💜

Residents and staff from across Keychange came together to share personal reflections on friendship, read Bible passages about being a good friend, and enjoy uplifting hymns throughout the service. 🥰

It was a joy-filled time together.

As part of our Community Connectors Service in Southwick, and in celebration of the International Day of Older Persons, we’re inviting local organisations, groups and clubs to host a free stall.

This positive, celebratory event will focus on connection, community and opportunities for older people - a chance to come together, share what you do, and help strengthen the support network in Southwick.

This Dementia Action Week, we’re reflecting on what it truly means to live well with dementia, and at Keychange, we believe it starts with relationship🫶

We take time to understand each person’s story - their past, their preferences, and the small details that bring comfort and joy. A favourite mug. A meaningful song. These moments matter and help to create a sense of belonging 💜

Our latest thought piece explores this in more depth, celebrating the remarkable people we support and what they continue to teach us. We believe that a dementia diagnosis is one part of someone’s story, it doesn’t define who they are.

At Keychange, we're passionate about supporting the wellbeing of all our employees, and we have a wellbeing representative across all of our communities and Central Office. Our mentors are there to support our teams, share helpful resources, and provide a listening ear when it’s needed most 💚

To acknowledge Mental Health Awareness Week, our wellbeing mentors have been arranging a variety of activities to open up conversations about mental health and come together in solidarity for the cause. There’s been plenty of tea and coffee shared, lots of sweet treats enjoyed, and a dedicated wellbeing box has been created with colouring books and puzzles to help our residents unwind. We also dressed in green for Wear It Green Day.

Mental wellbeing is something we take seriously at Keychange, and all team members have access to our Employee Assistance Programme, which includes 24/7 GP appointments, dental care and confidential counselling. There is also a wealth of wellbeing resources and articles available as part of this programme.

🎉We are very excited to announce as part of our Community Connectors Service in Southwick, we are hosting a celebration event for International Day of Older Persons. We would like to invite expressions of interest from organisations, groups, and clubs to host a free stall.

📍 Venue – Southwick Community Centre
📅 Date – Thursday 1 October
⏰ Timing – 10:00am – 3:00pm

Please be aware that stallholders will need to arrive before the event and stay afterwards to set up and close down their stalls. Exact timings will be shared nearer the event.

This will be a positive, celebratory event focused on connection, community, activities, and opportunities for older people 💛
We’re keen to hear from anyone offering:

• Social or community groups 🤝
• Activities, clubs, or hobbies 🎨🎶
• Support, wellbeing, or connection-focused services 🌿
• Anything helping older people stay active, engaged, and connected 💬✨

Stallholders will be notified in June once spaces are confirmed. Due to limited capacity, not all applications may be successful, but we’re grateful for all interest.

🌿 Here’s a little glimpse of the joy our gardens brought us during .

At Fair Havens Residential Care Home - Keychange Charity in Southampton, our residents have been soaking up the sunshine and blue skies, taking time to relax and enjoy the peace that comes with being outdoors.

Meanwhile, over at Alexander House Care Home Wimbledon, Tracey and Carole have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on the raised beds - creating a space that will bring colour and wonder in the weeks ahead 🌸

Across our Keychange communities, residents, staff and volunteers find joy in the simple moments outdoors: feeling the warmth of the sunshine, the breeze on your skin, or hearing the sounds of laughter as children play in the neighbourhood.

This National Gardening Week, we’re celebrating those small moments of enjoyment that make a big difference to wellbeing, confidence and connection for all those we support.
