Our Story
The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust was a time-limited charitable foundation established in 2012 to mark and celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. In 2020, the Trust successfully completed its programme of work and as planned ceased operating as a grant-making organisation.
During its life time, through its work with partners and with the support of Governments, the Trust strengthened eye health systems and improved access to quality eye care across the Commonwealth. As a result of its work, millions have been saved from losing their sight to avoidable forms of blindness. The Trust has mobilised people and organisations around the world, equipping and enabling them to continue the fight against avoidable blindness and ensure no-one in the future becomes blind from causes that can be prevented.
The Trust also discovered and championed a cadre of outstanding young leaders working for the common good, spanning 53 Commonwealth countries. The Queen’s Young Leaders, a network of 240 Queen’s Young Leaders and 282 Highly Commended Runners Up, form a unique, dedicated and powerful group of young people who are connecting, collaborating and changing lives together – and will continue to do so for many years to come.
The work of The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust is now complete and the charity has closed.
