With all the debate about early prison release, why is there no focus on the fact that community based alternatives and rehabilitative sentences are far more successful for reducing re-offending.

Do we want expensive punishment/revenge (prison)or rehabilitation (unfortunately prisons significantly fail here). In my opinion, the government should be matching their prison release program with investment into rehabilitative programs ... evidence shows this is a far more successful (and cheaper) option. Of course each case is individual and it's not a "one size fits all" situation, but we seem to completely ignore that rehabilitation is how we can reduce both offending and prison spaces needed!

Time after time I have seen cases where prison has been a main factor that has contributed to re-offending, whilst rehabilitative programmes have been life changing. If at it financially, not only is it more successful and cheaper, but it also allows those involved to become working (and tax paying) citizens.

We are looking for a Chief Operations Officer to lead the operations team, join the management team and support the CEO. Your priorities will be to oversee all fundraising, including campaigns, major donors and grant applications. You will oversee the HR of the organisation, including recruitment and disciplinaries. In partnership with the CEO and finance officer you will be jointly responsible for finance within the organisation. You will manage the facilities manager and administrator, ensuring that processes are followed appropriately and the building is maintained in good condition, ensuring we fulfil all legal requirements.

This is part of the reason for our funding campaign, as has happened many times before, we flooded again yesterday. The team worked hard to make sure we could open back up straight away, but there are ongoing costs.
