If you've been following us for a while, then you'll probably be aware that the last year has been a pretty unique one in our history.
Beginning in May 2025, our inaugral HubFest saw over 900 amazing people join us for one of the biggest events in the Fox and Firkin's history. It was organised under a cloud of uncertainty, with our expectation being that we would likely close shortly thereafter at the end of June, 2025.
Thanks to enormous political support from across Lewisham Council, our expected final farewell ultimately became a day of true celebration. Our time at Place Ladywell having been extended until June, 2026, and then again recently through to 2027.
Thanks to Mayor of Lewisham, Brenda Dacres OBE's, decision to make us her charity of the year for 25/26, our once intensely support focussed efforts broadened to a point we could never have imagined.
During this year, we have represented Lewisham at the New Year's Day LondonParade, passing over 800,000 people along the way. We launched our first Secret Postcard Auction that saw us raise over £5,000, showcasing the most beautiful art to over 250 attendees at Beckenham Place Mansion.
We were so proud to watch as five council employees successfully completed the TCS London Marathon on our behalf, raising over £7,000 in the process (more to come on that). There's also been a sold-out winter HubFest, a wonderful quiz night at Catford House, more than a dozen community fairs, destasher events, the mayor's Christmas carol service in New Cross, a Black History Month fundraiser in the council chambers...and so much more besides!
It's been a truly breathless year, held together on the events side by Alexia (our events manager, and sister of the hub's founder) in partnership with our extraordinary events and fundraising team. And on the service delivery side, our board of trustees, team leaders and our *truly* incredible and unhesitating volunteers have helped deliver support to more first time visitors than at any point in our history.
Due to the sheer volume of commitments, it hasn't been possible to post as regularly about the enormous impact of your donations. And yet, week after week, you have continued to give in extraordinary breadth and volumes.
Despite all of the time that has passed since we first opened our doors in June, 2020, you still take our breath away, every day, through your overwhelming, sustained and selfless generosity. Thank you for continuing to be there for us, and for all those we endeavour to support 💞
