Iyabo Ojo Reveals the Little White Lies She Told Her Kids About Their Father

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has candidly shared the reasons behind the “little white lies” she told her children about their father to provide them with what she describes as a “balanced life.” In an emotional interview with AntoSays, Iyabo reflected on the challenges of her journey and the decisions she made to protect her children’s perception of family.

Opening up, Iyabo said:

“There’s something they call a white lie. My story is crazy—when I say crazy, I mean I need to write a book about my life. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and ask myself, ‘Oh girl, how did you pull through?’

“I didn’t come from a balanced family—not financially, we were okay in that sense—but emotionally and structurally, it wasn’t balanced because of the things going on between my parents. So, I craved and wanted my kids to have a balanced home.

“When that didn’t happen, I made it my mission to shield my kids from the chaos. I didn’t allow them access to social media or phones until they were around 14 or 15. They couldn’t read newspapers or anything that could expose them to the truth of what was happening.

“I told them their dad was a traveler who was always on the road. They didn’t realize we were separated for a long time. Despite my personal feelings, I made sure he had access to them whenever he came to visit. I even bought Christmas and New Year gifts, pretending some were from him—his gifts were always bigger than mine.”

Iyabo Ojo’s heartfelt revelation sheds light on the sacrifices she made to create a sense of normalcy for her children despite her personal struggles.

“The Igbo Spirit: Unity Without Limits”

The Igbo people are a shining example of unity and support, extending love and care to one another regardless of religion or background. This spirit of togetherness was on full display during Pastor Jerry Eze’s recent birthday celebration, where their solidarity and sense of community stood out.

While scrolling through a community page on Blue Street, I couldn’t help but admire how they celebrate each other’s achievements and lift one another up. It’s a culture rooted in collective success, reminding us all of the power of unity and the beauty of shared growth.

Though I am not Igbo, I see and deeply admire this positive example.

May God continue to bless Pst. Jerry Eze and everyone who honored his invitation for the sake of love and community!

Keep moving forward, stay focused, and remain thankful for every lesson along the way. One day, you’ll look back and see how every challenge was part of the beautiful story you were meant to live.
