Loddon Community Cinema

Loddon Community Cinema Like other community cinemas, we provide the opportunity to enjoy the big-screen experience locally, in the company of like-minded friends.

We screen a varied programme of interesting recent releases, many of which have received only short runs at the multiplexes or which have not previously been shown locally at all, as well as occasional classic or archive films Loddon Community Cinema has been operating since August 2009 and was established by a group of volunteers with start-up help from Loddon Parish Council, Saffron Community Fo

undation, Chet Valley Community Development and Creative Arts East. Rural Cinema, Village Screen, Flicks in the Sticks or whatever you like to call it, is enjoying something of a boom and the number of rural film groups has doubled in the last 10 years. We mostly screen recent films that maybe had only had a brief release at a specialist venue like Cinema City in Norwich and have never hit the mass-market cinemas or TV. We also tend to show more British films than the multiplexes and screen some classic films that have been reissued in a fresh print. However, we also show must-see Oscar-winning films that keep Loddon in the cultural mainstream!
