💙 Dementia Awareness Week May Be Ending… But Awareness Must Continue 💙

As Dementia Awareness Week comes to an end today, I just want to say what a wonderful week it has been across Denbighshire, with so many communities coming together to raise awareness, offer support, and educate people about dementia.

On Thursday morning, we held our own awareness stand here in Llangollen, and it was lovely to see people stopping for a chat, asking questions, and showing support. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come along.

Although the awareness week may be ending, the message should not stop here. We must continue to support those living with dementia, their families, friends, and carers, whilst also continuing to educate ourselves and others. A little bit of understanding, patience, and kindness can make such a big difference to somebody’s day.

As I am part of the Age and Dementia Friendly Town networking group, I know how important it is that we keep these conversations going and continue working together to make our communities more understanding and supportive for everyone.

Special Songs of Praise Celebration for St Collen’s Day

Last night, my wife and I attended the special Songs of Praise service in celebration of St Collen’s Day.

Father Lee put on a very special celebration with some lovely songs, and everybody who attended thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was wonderful to see the community coming together for such a meaningful and uplifting evening.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising such a lovely event.

📢 NatWest Bank Van Update – Llangollen

Good afternoon everyone,

Just to let you know, I have received a phone call advising that the NatWest Bank Van will not be in Llangollen town centre tomorrow due to a problem that has occurred with the vehicle.

NatWest have apologised for the inconvenience and said they will keep me updated.

In the meantime, if anybody needs to withdraw money, deposit money, or deposit cheques, this can still be done through the Post Office. However, if you need to speak to somebody in person directly from NatWest, you will need to visit the branch in Wrexham.

I will share any further updates as soon as I receive them.

⚠️ Pengwern Footpath Safety Notice ⚠️

Just a quick message to residents on Pengwern to please take extra care when using the pavement area where the recent works have taken place.

There are currently quite a lot of loose stones and bricks left along the grass verge beside the pavement, so please be careful when walking with children or dogs in the area.

The workmen will be returning over the next few days to continue tidying everything up, so please just bear with us while this is being sorted.

Thank you 👍

🍕 Another Local Business Supporting Our Community 💙

This afternoon, Dee Pizza officially joined the Safe Place Scheme here in Llangollen, and I would like to say a huge thank you to them for getting involved.

It’s fantastic to see more local businesses stepping forward to support people within our community who may need help, reassurance, or simply somewhere safe to go.

The Safe Place Scheme is designed to support anyone who may feel vulnerable while out and about. This could include somebody living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, or anyone who becomes confused, anxious, or lost.

Businesses displaying the Safe Place sticker are offering a welcoming place where somebody can come in, sit down, and get help contacting a family member, friend, carer, or support worker if needed.

📱 You can also download the FREE “Safe Places” app on both Apple and Android phones by searching:
“Safe Places” in your app store.

The app shows all registered Safe Places nearby, helping people quickly find support whenever they may need it.

Every business that joins helps make Llangollen a more caring, understanding, and inclusive town for everybody.

Thank you again to Dee Pizza for supporting this important community initiative. đź’™

💙 Jade’s Hair Beauty here in Llangollen. Join the Safe Place Scheme During Dementia Action Week 💙

What a fantastic time for Jade's Hairdressers to sign up to the Safe Place Scheme, right during Dementia Action Week. 👏

A huge thank you to Jade’s Hairdressers for supporting this important community initiative and helping make Llangollen a safer, more understanding, and more supportive town for everyone.

The Safe Place Scheme helps people who may feel vulnerable, anxious, confused, lost, or in need of support while out in the community. Businesses displaying the Safe Place sticker offer a welcoming place where somebody can go if they need reassurance, assistance, or help contacting a family member, friend, or support worker.

During Dementia Action Week, this means even more, as many people living with dementia can sometimes become disoriented or need support while out and about. Having Safe Places across our town can make a real difference to somebody’s confidence and independence. 💙

📱 The Safe Places app can be downloaded free by searching:
“Safe Places” on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Once downloaded, the app shows all registered Safe Places nearby, helping people quickly find support if they ever need it.

Every business that joins helps strengthen our community, and it’s wonderful to see local businesses in Llangollen continuing to step forward and support others.

Thank you again to Jade’s Hairdressers for joining the scheme during such an important awareness week. 💙
