Members of our WI had a lovely, restful morning at the marvellous Mad Hatter Studio in Holyhead this morning thanks to the The WI (National Federation of Women's Institutes) Denman Grant awarded to AFWI. There was a lot of chat as we painted our chosen items.

They will look much more colourful after firing, so we'll post a picture of them again in a couple of weeks.

Seven members of our WI enjoyed a rather damp afternoon at Plas Cadnant yesterday. There had been some debate about going due to the weather, but with suitable clothing we went and had a lovely time.

The only pictures taken were to identify plants on PlantNet. Maybe I could have taken a picture of the pots of tea and the cakes we enjoyed after our walk, but we were too busy chatting!

Another lovely afternoon in great company.

Its been a marvellous day today when I tried some new things and stepped out of my usual comfort zone. Thanks to a grant to AFWI, I took part in a half-day retreat in Rhosneigr. After our welcome at the village hall, there was an hour of gentle yoga. I was rather wobbly on the balance exercises and not very stretchy on the stretching exercises, but felt that I got a good workout.

Next was a trip to the beach sauna and a quick dip in the sea to cool down. Then it was back to the hall for some snacks before a really relaxing gong and sound bath. That was a new experience for me, and I am sure I will go again.

Thanks are due to Angharad at Create Space for giving us all a great experience.

Our annual trip this year was to Rhug Farm estate near Corwen. We were able to use the community minibus from Canolfan Beaumaris and their volunteer driver who took us there through the glorious scenery of Snowdonia.

After morning coffee, we heard a very interesting talk about farm management before getting onto the trailer which was pulled by tractor around the lanes. On such a hot day we were very glad of the ride. The staff were so knowledgeable and told us about the bison, the deer, and life on the estate.

Thanks are due to our trip organiser and all our WI members for their company. Our next meeting will be in September, and we welcome new members to join us. I wonder where our annual trip 2027 will take us.

We were delighted to have Eilir with us this afternoon to tell us about herself and read from her first book. She's an inspiring woman and it was lovely to meet her

Thank you very much to Elaine and Sandra and everyone at the Llanfairpwll-Gwyngyll WI for having me as a guest speaker earlier. It was lovely to meet you, and you made me feel very welcome ☺️.

Eight of our members enjoyed a lovely afternoon with Snowdonia Donkeys today. After the warm weather over the past couple of days, we were disappointed by a day of drizzle and chilly breezes, but we had a warm welcome and informative talk by the enthusiastic people there - and plenty of time with the donkeys.

Hot drinks and scones afterwards were greatly appreciated. Apparently, donkey therapy is quite addictive - so we hope to return in warmer weather.

The Not in my name event today in Llandudno was a great success, and hosted this year by our AFWI Chair, Glynne. The speakers were impactful and moving on this important topic.

Never use.
Never accept.
Never stand by.
