Thank you to the brave volunteers of RNLI Llandudno Lifeboat.

It's ALWAYS best to call the Coastguard if you see something that could be a person in difficulty. The Lifeboat crew would far rather go out to a false alarm than to miss a casualty. Water Safety is a collective effort and relies on a caring general public. Thank you to the member of the public who raised the alarm on this occasion.

With amber and red heat warnings in place across the south of England and Wales, it's vital your family knows how to stay safe around water. ☀️

When UK average maximum temperatures reach 25°C or above, accidental drowning risk increases fivefold compared to days around 10°C.

Start the conversation early and help children understand how to stay safe in, on, and around water.

We’ve got free resources such as bookmarks and posters to help support those important safety chats.

As temperatures ramp up over the next few days, please take care. We may escape the worst of the heat here in paradise on the North Wales Coast, but it will still be a difficult few days, especially for the elderly or vulnerable.

If you're heading to the water, remember it's colder than you think. Acclimatise slowly to avoid cold-water shock. If you get into difficulties, stay calm, tip your head back and .

If you see anyone in difficulty in the water or on the coast, call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard, even if you think the situation might resolve itself. Quick action is crucial and can save lives.

If you think it's hot now, the Met Office has issued a Red Extreme Heat Warning for Wednesday and Thursday, with June’s all-time daily record temperature forecast to be broken. Amber Extreme Heat warnings are already in place for much of southern and central England and Wales.

It may be tempting to cool off in or near the water during a heatwave, but the water is still very chilly, please take extra care and acclimatise slowly ☀️

Swim at a lifeguarded beach where possible 🏖️

Take notice of the beach flags and safety signs 🚩

Stay within your limits when in the water 🌊

Stay hydrated with water & never enter the water after drinking alcohol ❌

If you get into trouble, Float to Live 🛟

In an emergency at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

What a scorcher! 🌞

If you are heading out to Llandudno’s West Shore today there are a few things you can do to stay safe.

✅Check the tide times. You can easily end up cut off from the shore on the sandbanks. https://www.tidetimes.org.uk/conwy-tide-times

✅Carry a fully charged mobile phone, ideally in a waterproof pouch

✅Make sure someone knows where you are and when you’ll be back.

✅If you’re entering the water, wear the right gear. It’s colder than you think!

We are delighted to be able to report that after a rigorous assessment of all our processes and procedures, our training programme, our logbook, and the observation of watchkeepers on watch in real time, NCI Llandudno (Station 51) has passed the assessment to retain our Declared Facility Status (DFS), which we first attained in 2024.

This means that NCI Llandudno continues to operate as an authorised asset of HM Coastguard.

Sincere thanks to the excellent Assesor, who travelled from a different NCI Region to put us through our paces.

We have to pass this assessment on an annual basis. It is rightly challenging and exacting. The standards and expectations are high.

Thanks are due to our management team, and to the whole crew, who have worked hard for this. 🙏🏼
