In the summer of 2012, i went on a voluntary trip to Ghana to teach children english, maths and science at two school; Vision Seed Academy and The School of Excellence. The schools in Ghana had no textbooks or classroom equipment. The children relied on teachers, many of whom who had no qualifications or teacher training, to provide them with an education. One of the issues which struck me was tha
t there was no learning structure or curriculum, which left the children with very little preparation for the exams they would sit in the future. The schools which i taught in were overcrowded, with an average of 50 pupils per teacher in a cramped classroom. This environment was totally unsuitable to learn in as there was constant noise from neighbouring classrooms and traffic from the nearby roads. After returning from the best country i have ever visited, i vowed to make a difference. After receiving a very kind donation of unwanted school textbooks, i am raising money to send the books across to these schools, giving the children a proper curriculum to learn. Once these books are sent, i aim to raise as much money as possible to help these schools and ultimately, improve the quality of education the children receive. This is why i urge you to make a contribution to this worthy cause. Whatever the size of the donation, the impact will be great as every penny counts to these children. This year i will be participating in fundraising events. I will be posting updates on these regularly. You can also follow me on twitter to keep updated
