On this day in 1960.
Elvis was in Scotland during a two-hour layover at Prestwick Airport, 3rd March 1960. ✈️

• His U.S. Army transport plane, carrying him home from military service in Germany, landed at Prestwick Airport around 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, 3 March 1960.

• It was a refuelling stop that lasted about two hours.

• Elvis spent the time inside the terminal, meeting a small number of fans and RAF personnel, signing autographs, and chatting briefly.

• The aircraft then took off around 3:15 a.m., bound for the United States via Gander, Newfoundland.

In 1993, we were so excited to hear that tapes from ‘On Tour’ had been found in a salt mine in Kansas. A storage facility for MGM.
And purchased a wonderful box set of ‘The Lost Performances’ (with unseen footage from TTWII and On Tour) plus a colourised version of the ‘Jailhouse Rock’ movie. The change to colour wasn’t the best. But it was a nice addition.
Here is the corrected colourisation of the title track. Enjoy. It’s EPiC!

Elvis recorded ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ at RCA Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hard to believe that a song that still sounds that raw and modern is now seven decades old. That record didn’t just age well….it changed everything!
