Elvis ‘Cross Merseyside & Cheshire

How wonderful to see this footage from March 1970.
Much of it filmed by the Liverpool branch leader, Maria Davies of The Official Elvis Presley Fan Club of Liverpool, and her sister Gladys. They lived in Blundellsands.
They saw Elvis in Vegas in 1969. Then returned for many shows in his second season. Leaving Nevada for LA. The photo is outside Elvis’s Hillcrest home.
They travelled to Houston. And most of this footage was filmed by them.

‘’It’s Only Love”

Always loved this extended version

Recorded in Nashville on May 20, 1971, at RCA Studio B, and released as a single in the US in September 1971. It wasn’t a major US hit, but it became much bigger in the UK, when reissued in 1980, reaching No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart.

49 years ago today, Elvis Presley left us.

A thought today for Elvis, and for the millions of fans around the world who have loved his music, shared the journey and kept his memory alive.

And especially for those fans who are no longer here to remember with us.

49 years gone. Still missed. Still loved. Still Elvis.

Elvis’s performance of Hound Dog on The Milton Berle Show changed everything.

For the first time, millions of Americans saw Elvis perform with the energy, confidence and hip movements that would become his trademark. The reaction was immediate: teenagers loved it, adults were shocked, and the media erupted with criticism.

The controversy made national headlines, earned him the nickname “Elvis the Pelvis,” and transformed him from a successful singer into a cultural phenomenon.

In simple terms: the Berle show made Elvis a stareverything that followed made him a legend.

The Milton Berle Show on June 5, 1956, when Elvis set his guitar aside and put every part of his being into a blistering, scandalous performance of “Hound Do...

In 1993, we were so excited to hear that tapes from ‘On Tour’ had been found in a salt mine in Kansas. A storage facility for MGM.
And purchased a wonderful box set of ‘The Lost Performances’ (with unseen footage from TTWII and On Tour) plus a colourised version of the ‘Jailhouse Rock’ movie. The change to colour wasn’t the best. But it was a nice addition.
Here is the corrected colourisation of the title track. Enjoy. It’s EPiC!
