A huge thank you to Chris Lam Memorial 5 Miler and Neil Macdonald for their incredible support of The Dan Kay Foundation💙❤️🏃♂️
Last weekend, Widnes Running Club raised money for our Foundation during their annual five mile race in Clock Face Country Park.
Chris and Dan were close friends and this donation continues their wonderful friendship on behalf of their families, friends and colleagues💜
After the race, Dan’s former Liverpool Echo News colleague and friend Neil Macdonald, who helped organise the sponsorship, said: “Dan and Chris were massive Reds who went home and away, loved running and would help anyone who needed it. They were my friends.
“I talked about Dan and Chris to the 207 runners who took part and stressed that it was really 209 as the lads were there in spirit. It was an honour for me to talk about them both and very emotional, but I wanted to do it for Dan and Chris.”
Dean Harris, a friend of both Dan and Chris Lam, and a volunteer for The Dan Kay Foundation, added: “I met Dan at the Anglican Cathedral with Anne Williams. The first thing Anne said to me was: “He’s a good one.’”
“Dan kept in touch as he did with so many other survivors and in 2017, he invited me to participate in the Hillsborough to Anfield Run to raise awareness and funds for charity, of which Chris Lam had been part of from the beginning.
“Dan introduced me to Chris and after speaking about our experiences, Chris and I realised we were only feet from each other on the Leppings Lane. The three of us remained close friends thereafter and took part in many other events raising awareness of the Justice Campaign.”
Thank you again to Widnes Running Club and Neil Macdonald. Dan and Chris will never be forgotten.
