We're finishing the season with our AGM this evening. Just *where* did the last year go??

But last week saw visiting Judge Nick Hilton EFIAP/b DPAGB BPE5 casting his experienced eye over of 'Print of The Year' entries.

Huge congratulations to our two winners, Sarah Mawdsley & Deb Shackleton! 🏆🏆

Stunning images both but not just those, the entries all year have been phenomenal with such a wide range of styles, techniques, camera types and vision. Well done everyone!
..and don't forget, we'll be catching up for a natter & a pint every other week during the summer break 🍻

Steve McCurry.

A very happy birthday to photographer Steve McCurry who celebrates turning 76 today, April the 23rd, 2026.

US photographer, freelancer, photojournalist, and Magnum Photo member, McCurry is seen here alongside his best known (some say controversial) image, a portrait of Sharbat Gula, taken in a refugee camp in Pakistan in 1984 (on a Nikon FM2, using Kodachrome 64)

Whilst this image has undoubtedly become iconic we should also celebrate his wide ranging photographic achievements, he has amassed an incredible back catalogue - I'll add a link to his website in the comments section.

Remembering German-born photojournalist Hansel Mieth who was born on this day, April the 9th, in 1909.

Mieth worked on the staff of LIFE Magazine and is best known for her social commentary photography which recorded the lives of working class Americans during the depression of the 1930s and 40s.

You can read more about her life and see samples of her work via the link that I'll add in the comments section. .....
