We are delighted and honoured that The Paul Lavelle Foundation has been chosen as one of the two charities supported by the new Mayor of Wirral, Cllr Mary Jordan, during her mayoral year May 2026 - 2027 🙏🏻😃
This will help raise the profile of our work supporting male victims and survivors of domestic abuse, while also making us a 50% beneficiary of the Mayor’s fundraising alongside another fantastic local charity, Wirral Carers Alliance.
We look forward to supporting fundraising events throughout the year. Watch this space for what’s coming up!
We wish Cllr Mary Jordan a wonderful and successful year as Mayor of Wirral. 💙
Cllr Mary Jordan took the chains of office to become the Mayor of Wirral at the Council’s Annual Meeting at Wallasey Town Hall yesterday evening (13 May), succeeding Cllr Brian Kenny.
Cllr Jordan, who has represented Clatterbridge ward since 2018, brings a wealth of professional and community experience to the role. After beginning her career at Unilever Research and Development, she balanced work with part-time study in chemistry, physics and mathematics. She later returned to higher education to complete a master’s degree in health promotion, policy and research.
Her career in the NHS saw her take on senior roles across Cheshire and Merseyside, including project managing healthcare science services and working across specialist areas such as renal services, critical care and dementia. She also contributed to cancer research at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and continues to champion dementia care locally.
Alongside her professional work, Cllr Jordan has made a significant contribution to community life - chairing the Wirral Festival of Music and helping to found Incubabies, supporting neonatal care at Arrowe Park Hospital.
For her mayoral year, she will support The Paul Lavelle Foundation and Wirral Carers through the Mayor’s Charity Fund, helping raise awareness and vital funds for their work across the borough.
Cllr Mary Jordan said: “It is a great honour to be appointed Mayor of Wirral. Having lived in the borough all my life, I am proud to serve our communities and support the organisations and volunteers who make such a positive difference locally.”
Also appointed at the meeting was Cllr Mike Sullivan as Deputy Mayor, supported by Deputy Mayoress Dr Emily Sullivan.
