In 1978 Local group 'Art for their sake' decided to offer their services as muralists free of charge to Europe's largest hospital, Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool. Realising the potential of the massive wall space they attempted to transform the drab draconian corridors throughout the huge multi level building. Soon after, the "Art For Their Sake" team created a staggering 17,963 sq. mu

ral, earning the team a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Shortly after, the mural grew to in excess of 34,000 sq. The project was well received and has generated its own publicity, inspiring sponsorship along the way, involving TV and Sports Personalities. The "Art For Their Sake" Team have won several community awards. Now, over 30 years on, the 'Art For Their Sake' team now deploys the skills of many professional artists, covering a wide range of skills including sculpturists, animators, designers, theatrical scenic artists also painters and decorators. One of the prime objectives of 'Arts For Their Sake' is to provide involvement for the community, particularly children, and strive to create an atmosphere of productive enjoyment and propagate an appreciation of art. Arts for their sake have many project sites throughout the United Kingdom and hope to obtain sponsorship for them. They are hoping to embark on more regions in the near future with their projects and skills.
