Ahead Of The Game Foundation

Ahead Of The Game Foundation Educate & enhance the mental, financial, physical health/ wellbeing of anyone with terminal illness. I choose to live life, experience it to the upmost.

I was diagnosed with cancer in May 2014, having a tennis ball sized brain tumour, in my frontal lobe. Following a successful de-bulking during brain surgery I was sent away with regular MRI's . In July 15 during a regular scan, unfortunately there was a growth in the original site. Following another successful de-bulking the same week , histology showed my astrocytoma 2, was now a Glioblastoma Mul

tiforme 4 . Known in the medical world as the Terminator.....

I am currently undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy . Instead of becoming another NHS statistic ,
and now facing a life expectancy of 3 months with no treatment and less than 12 months with. I refuse to accept this prognosis and lay down waiting for my maker. I strive towards surviving and beating this often invisible disease. I have created this page, in a hope my blog and experiences, may help others diagnosed with a brain tumor or cancer. There are not many good news stories out there on the web and not much to relate to. My aim is that this page and my blog, reaches people in a similar position. So they know that they are not alone in this journey, and that the same strange feelings, thoughts, and experiences that they are going through , are also being shared by myself and others. This page and blog is also aimed at helping people understand, this life threatening and often invisible . Throughout this journey, I will share my thoughts, feelings , travels ,health & diet, as well as my treatments. Medical, holistic and alternative. I am open minded and will try and experience most things. So It should provide some laughs along the way, at my expense if nothing else. If anyone has any tips regarding, diet, exercise, Foods or see's anything related to treatments alternative, holistic or clinical trials, post away on here. Behind every dark cloud the sun shines bright x

Yesterday I was down at the London Marathon… and honestly, it’s hard to put into words what I witnessed.

This isn’t just another marathon.
It isn’t just a race.
It isn’t just 26.2 miles.

This is something completely different.

This is where dreams are realised.
Where stories unfold in real time.
Where people run for loved ones they’ve lost… and for those still fighting.

I watched people push through pain, through adversity…
People running when everything in their body is telling them to stop.
People going through treatment… facing the toughest battles of their lives…
And still showing up. Still moving forward.

That’s what this is about.

It’s not about times.
It’s not about medals.
It’s about meaning.

And for us at Ahead Of The Game Foundation… this matters more than ever.

Because everything we do, every session, every life we impact…
It only happens because of the generosity of people like you.

We don’t get government funding.
We rely on the public.
On your support. On your belief in what we do.

And yesterday… our runners showed exactly why that support matters.

Every step they took wasn’t just for them…
It was for every person facing cancer.
Every family going through the unthinkable.

So to every single one of our runners… you were unbelievable. Truly.

And to everyone who donated, supported, shared, cheered…
Thank you. It means more than you will ever know.

This isn’t just a race.

It’s so much more ….

London 2026… you were special.

And 2027… we go again.

From all of us at Ahead Of The Game Foundation…

This Christmas, we want to wish every single one of you a very Merry Christmas.

But we also want to say this gently and honestly…
It’s OK if it doesn’t feel merry.
It’s OK if this time of year hurts a little more.
It’s OK if you’re missing someone, grieving someone, or holding a space at the table that can never quite be filled.

This year we have sadly lost too many of our beautiful community. Brave souls who walked this path with courage, humour, love and heart. You are not forgotten. You are carried with us, always.

So whether today is full of joy, quiet reflection, tears, laughter, or a mix of all of it… wherever you are emotionally, you are welcome here.

Thank you for being part of our community. Thank you for your love, your strength and your humanity.

Sending love to you all today and holding close those who are no longer with us 🤍

Merry Christmas, with love,
Ahead Of The Game Foundation

📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE

We’ve been made aware of serious concerns regarding a Super Yacht experience purchased at our charity golf event last September.

This experience was promoted in good faith based on information provided by the supplier. We were not aware of any issues, and we’re extremely disappointed to learn about the experience some guests had.

We want to reassure our community that we are already taking action:

✔️ A full investigation is underway
✔️ We’ve contacted the provider for a formal explanation
✔️ Other charities and organisers are being made aware
✔️ Relevant authorities will be notified where necessary

If you attended this experience and would like to share info with us, please reach out directly.

Integrity, transparency and the wellbeing of our supporters will always come first. ❤️

𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 🔥

Today we celebrate the quiet warriors.
The ones turning up to treatment exhausted.
The carers holding everything together.
The parents who smile for their kids then cry in the kitchen.
The ones who did not get the news they hoped for but keep going anyway.

You are the reason we do what we do.
You are proof that courage is not the absence of fear
it is choosing to stand up one more time than life knocks you down.

If no one has told you today……..

𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗣𝗬-𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗘𝗗 𝗡𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗔 & 𝗩𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚
For anyone going through chemotherapy, nausea isn’t “just a side effect” — it can be utterly overwhelming. Up to 80% of people experience chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), and for many it becomes one of the toughest parts of treatment.

CINV can hit hard. It impacts appetite, energy, sleep and overall quality of life. The severity depends on the drug, the dose, the treatment schedule and how your body personally reacts.

Our founder knows this all too well. He was hospitalised three out of his six chemotherapy cycles because of extreme nausea and vomiting.

But there are options. And sometimes the medication you’ve been given first isn’t the medication that will give you the best relief.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗮 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 Dave
❌ Cyclizine – Cycles 1 & 2
❌ Ondansetron – Cycle 3
✅ Aprepitant – Cycles 4 to 6 (This was the game-changer)

Aprepitant isn’t routinely given to brain tumour patients as a first line anti-sickness option — but for me, it provided far better relief and allowed me to actually get through treatment.

Since sharing this, we’ve supported many others going through chemotherapy who have gone back to their medical teams and requested Aprepitant… and it has genuinely helped.

Another medication that’s been recommended by fellow brain tumour thriver Laura is Haloperidol, which has also shown good results for those struggling with severe nausea.

If you’re finding CINV unbearable, please don’t suffer in silence. Speak to your oncology team, ask the questions and advocate for yourself. Sometimes the right medication makes all the difference.

💛 You deserve to be as comfortable as possible during treatment — there are options that can help.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗢𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲s💫

Emily is 21 and currently living with a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumour. This is not her first battle with cancer.
At just 9 years old she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and fought her way through it with unbelievable courage.

Through everything, Emily has refused to be defined by her diagnosis. Her strength, resilience and quiet determination inspire everyone around her, including all of us at Ahead Of The Game Foundation.

As an Ahead Of The Game Hero, Emily and her mum Claire were treated to a beautiful spa and pamper day at the stunning 5 star Great Fosters, part of the Alexander Hotels Collection. They enjoyed two treatments each, a lovely lunch and, most importantly, time together to relax, breathe and make special memories away from hospitals and appointments.

This special day for Emily was made possible through Ellie’s Ahead Of The Game Heroes fund, created in memory of the amazing Ellie Mawdsley. Because of Ellie’s legacy and the ongoing support of , we are able to give families like Emily’s precious moments of joy and togetherness.

Huge thank you to The Ellie Mawdsley Foundation and to the team at for helping us make this happen for Emily and Claire 🤍
