Staying Warm this Winter

As we hit a cold snap, here’s a reminder of help that is available with heating costs:

- Winter Fuel Payment - Pensioners across England and Wales will start automatically receiving their £150 one off payment throughout November and December.

- Warm Home Discount - those on means tested benefits should receive a letter confirming their eligibility to this £150 reduction in their electricity bill by January 2026

- Cold Weather Payments - if the temperature in your area is under zero for 7 consecutive days, those on eligible benefits will automatically receive a direct payment of £25/day.

- Warm Home Grants - the government has lots of funding to improve the energy efficiency of homes in the UK. Check out www.gov.uk/government/collections/find-energy-grants-for-you-home-help-to-heat

Remember to;
- Heat the person, not the whole house. Layer up with warm clothes, and heated blankets or hot water bottles
- Seal up any draughts and insulate your home
- Keep active, as movement will help you stay warm
- Plenty of hot drinks and warming foods
