The 1960s was a transformational time for Port Sunlight – on Tuesday 25 August at 1pm, you can join Dr Heather Alcock at Port Sunlight Museum for a special talk exploring why.

Heather will use drawings and photographs to illustrate how the village underwent its most ambitious transformation since its construction, drawing on examples of Unilever's developments at the factory and elsewhere.

The talk is free to attend and lasts around 20 minutes. Normal admission to Port Sunlight Museum applies. Please note seating may be limited.

A new chapter in the story of the Bridge Inn has begun 🍻 We’re proud to announce that we have acquired the Grade II listed pub, safeguarding the future of one of the village’s most recognisable landmarks while benefitting the community and visitors alike.

Built in 1900, this special pub has been at the heart of Port Sunlight life for more than a century, with a fascinating history as the village’s original temperance hotel before becoming its only licensed pub in 1903. Our investment will enable us to better protect the Bridge Inn’s heritage and we look forward to working with the leaseholders Greene King.

Sea Piece is home 🧜‍♂️

Following work by specialist conservators to restore its original green patina, today the Grade II sculpture was carefully put back in place as work continues around it to rebuild and renew the Boating Pond. Meanwhile, the sculpture will be protected and reconnected to a new pumping and filtration system.

Are you excited as we are to see water flowing through the fountain again this autumn? Find out how you can support this once-in-a-generation project: portsunlightvillage.com/renewing-the-boating-pond-project

64 years ago today, music history was made in Port Sunlight 🥁

For the first time, Ringo Starr took to the stage at Hulme Hall as the new drummer for an exciting new band called the Beatles, and so the Fab Four as we know them was born.

🎸 Visit Port Sunlight on Saturday 29 August to re-live the sounds of the Beatles and the Sixties as takes over the village. Between 12-6pm, enjoy free and unticketed live music in the Dell, on the Village Green opposite Port Sunlight Museum, and at the Bridge Inn. Ticketed performances will also take place at Hulme Hall and Gladstone Theatre.

A new future for this classic red BT telephone box is calling 📞 We're very excited to share that we have been successful in adopting this often overlooked piece of Port Sunlight, which has been a little unloved for a while.

It needs significant work to repair and restore which will involve raising funds but, in the meantime, we would love to hear your thoughts on how it could be used to benefit the community in the future.

Check out this incredible Port Sunlight-inspired artwork 🎨

The Boating Pond hoarding's latest artwork has been created by Nicola 'Inky' Pickles as part of the Love Our Railways team, who have recently partnered with Merseyrail to bring artwork, planters and more community initiatives to Port Sunlight station. What a brilliant group and idea 👏
