We were lucky to get a table at Carers Support Service Health and Wellbeing morning in Lagan Valley Leisureplex on 23rd September. The event was a great success and showcased a variety of services available for those in need. It was also an opportunity for us to get our group noticed by those looking some
support for people living with dementia
We were also fortunate to have a short chat with the Mayor Brian Higginson LCCC and Sorcha Eastwood MP for Lagan Valley.

September brought us back to Victorian
Schooldays with Stephanie from Timesteps. Everyone was put through their reading writing and arithmetic. Timekeeping and manners the order of the day. No slacking.

In March we were fortunate enough to be given another slot in Tesco secondhand book stand. Ann Tesco Community Champion has been very supportive of our group and Marie one of our volunteers organised the slot and kept an eye on the shelves restocking as necessary. We just couldn’t believe that the monies raised for us was £377.83. A huge thank you to both Ann, Marie and all those who supported us by contributing their books.

For a little treat in May we had scrummy
afternoon tea followed by a visit from the street circus. After all the food was eaten everyone moved into a large circle and tried their hands at some circus tricks. We had spinning tricks, tossing, balancing, scarf work to name a few. Everyone joined in the fun. It’s harder than you think to balance a peacock feather in the palm of your hand. We all gave it a go.

We were very grateful to have a return visit from Roberta Campbell from the Clay House. A lot of preparation by Roberta is required to facilitate this activity for us and we really have appreciated the time given to us. Everyone created a little tray and using their own imagination the finished articles were gorgeous. They have been taken away for firing and we are excited to get them back soon.

In March we had a bingo day together with a short quiz. These activities keep everyone on their toes including the bingo caller who was enjoying the challenge.
We were also delighted to receive a surprise donation from Christ Church craft class from monies made by them for selling their creations.
