We need you for our focus groups!

LCDT is currently hosting a student conducting research into our Share and Repair projects. Part of this is gathering thoughts and experiences from our community in focus groups which will be taking place later this month. We are looking for local people to sign up to the groups (tea, coffee, snacks and a £5 voucher will be offered as a thank you for taking part).

P.S. Don't worry if you don't know anything about share and repair yet - we're looking for both people who are already involved and those who aren't!

You can find the form here to register your interest https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=sAafLmkWiUWHiRCgaTTcYViNDqiEevtKpwJ3QBhFUZ9UNExKV0xMWEtZSkY5REZBTTM2RzhDMEI2VS4u

Re-Fab members are resourceful and love helping each other.

Ann was sewing a shirt using some lovely fabric from an old duvet cover and was on the hunt for buttons. Luisa came up with the perfect match which she'd recently swapped from another shirt.

We hope you agree the final result looks very stylish.

By the way, we have a substantial tub of buttons in the Re-Fab stash, which members can rummage through.

Re-Fab members answered a call from St. Columba’s hospice to volunteer their time to make
‘Bags of Compassion’.

These bags allow hospice staff to return personal belongings to families with dignity and care. In the past, plastic bags were often used for this purpose, so these handmade fabric bags offer a more compassionate and thoughtful alternative during a very difficult time.

Elizabeth, Lindsay and Lucy got to work and made 18 bags, using fabric from their personal or Re-Fab ‘stash’, now given a new purpose.

Well done Re-Fabbers. We think they look fabulous. What a great project to support.

One of our members made this cute cushion to safely store used but still useable needles.
Do you change your needles to the correct one for the fabric you are using?

Is anyone trying to do ?
Not a making challenge, just a chance to showcase skills. Lots of our refabbers have made their own clothes over the years, almost all have adapted and adjusted existing items to keep them out of landfill.

Re-fab with help from Climate Action West Lothian have recently purchased an overlocker for use during our sessions. Members put this to use alongside their own machines and a Singer sewing machine from Linlithgow Tool Library to work on projects this weekend.
