We know how much you liked our first "Where To Find Us?" video..... πŸ“Έ

Marketing and Community Engagement volunteer and superstar Sandra offered to take us from the University of Lincoln Library in the former Grand Central Warehouse down past Brayford Pool to Newland, Mint Street and then Mint Lane πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ™Œ

Uni of Lincoln student and another fabulous member of the Marketing and Community Engagement team Jasmine helped again with the filming!

Jasmine and Sandra will be sharing more stories from our Mint Lane community over the next few months so keep checking out our social channels!

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰Meet Maz, Our Manager! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Maz has over 45 years of professional experience as a chef and has been involved with the Mint Lane Community since 2017, so she really believes in fostering an inclusive, welcoming and warm space for everyone.

Maz co-founded and runs Let Them Eat Cake, which supports people experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough on Lincoln's streets.

Maz believes wholesome and hearty food are essential to a good menu and I have to say that her salted caramel sponge is A-MAZ-ING 😍😍

Mint Lane Cafe opening hours are 10am-3pm, Wednesday to Friday

If you'd like to volunteer in the kitchen, please feel free to call in and have a chat with Maz - come and learn some new skills and help keep Mint Lane thriving!

And once again, huge Thank You to Sandra and Jasmine for helping me film this video!

Our new Hub Manager Ewan has done his first reel for the socials!

We've now got solar panels on the roof of our building which will help us generate more of the energy we need to keep the building going and helping us to cut down our costs. Good for us and good for the environment too.

A huge thanks to our funders - Key Fund, Energy Resilience Fund and Pearl Energy πŸ’šπŸ™Œ

I love history, especially learning more about the history of .

On Friday afternoon I was at Lincoln Central Library and I came across this interesting map in a 2023 book by Lincoln based historian Dr Andrew Walker and published by The Survey of Lincoln called "Lincoln's Burial Grounds: Commemorating the City's Dead".

The map dates from 1851 and was made by J.S. Padley. It shows the Quaker's Meeting House Burial Ground and St Martin's Burial Ground next to Park Lane and to the far right where the blue staining is, is Mint Lane!

There were several buildings on the left of Mint Lane at the time and they included two schools: one managed by the British and Foreign School Society and St Hugh's Catholic School which was at 13 Mint Lane between 1835 and 1874!

Definitely worth checking out the book for more information on a part of Lincoln's history I didn't know much about!

On Wednesday, our Marketing and Media Coordinator Matti went along to the annual Lincolnshire Voluntary Engagement Team meeting at Lincoln Bishop University!

Matti says:

"The LVET Conference was a fabulous opportunity to connect with people from charities and voluntary organisations and social enterprises from across Lincolnshire.

There was a passion for more collaboration and going beyond usual networking and wellbeing hubs are integral spaces to help put on activities which help empower us to come together to look after our mental health and emotional wellbeing."

There was a discussion around what leading change from the ground up looks like led by Vicky Thomson Chief Executive of Every-One. And that means:

🌟 Centering storytelling
🌟 Active listening
🌟 Showing vulnerability to encourage others
🌟 Spotting shared goals across opposing views

Huge Thanks to Team LVET for a thoughtful and engaging day and to the keynote speakers - Chris Wheway, Chief Executive of St Barnabas Hospice, Nikki Cooke, Chief Executive of LIVES, Jon Mansfield, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park and Wendy Moore, Company Secretary of the Park!
