I don't often write humour content but this is something I came up with. I always describe myself as neurodivergent, but somebody asked me for details (as in which neurotype) so of course my brain went on a detour and wrote this. I hope you like it 🙈

I was a poet long before I was a researcher. I have always tried to put the world into a grain of sand, metaphorically speaking. Those who say intelligent people should be able to put complex technical specialist topics into easy to understand language (for those with no experience) must have not taken it to the extremes that I have.

I am trying to compress enormous, cross-disciplinary interconnected systems of knowledge into something understandable whilst preserving meaning. Simplification tends to work by removing complexity, whereas I am trying to maintain the complexity whilst making it accessible. I know it is a lot, and I am always looking into how I can improve my method without losing valuable context.

This is the worst feeling, having to ban people who are somewhat aligned because they won't stop attacking me. Egocentric bias can cause an 'agreement with misunderstanding' where two people actually agree but one incorrectly attributes an opposing position to the other. This absolutely blows my mind and it's happened way too many times.

This is why consciousness and metacognition are essential.

Sufficient consideration means examining the evolutionary, ancestral and environmental conditions under which a biological configuration developed, rather than automatically interpreting its expression within a modern anthropogenic environment as evidence of inherent pathology. If a genetic configuration confers a biological adaptive advantage, but produces adverse outcomes under current conditions of environmental or epigenetic stress, we need to distinguish the biology itself from its interaction with that environment. Otherwise, we risk pathologising beneficial adaptations without understanding their original function, mistaking environmental incompatibility for biological dysfunction, and leaving the environmental conditions unexamined so they continue to cause evolutionary degeneration, without any accountability.

The distinction between inherent biological dysfunction and epigenetic harm via anthropogenic selection matters enormously, both scientifically and clinically. It changes what we investigate, how we interpret pathology and treatment, how we interpret evolution and how we approach human environments.

They are focusing on the future, build back better, proposing a reset - could that be a redirection? It seems that they want us to be looking ahead. Perhaps, what we should be doing then, is looking back at where we came from. That's usually the best way to understand where we may really be going.

An ancestral adaptation doesn't cease to be advantageous because the present environment does not currently require it. Its value can become apparent again under different conditions - and this creates a problem for how we define progress.

If a population becomes increasingly dependent on technological or environmental support while losing biological capacities that were previously available, is that human progress? Or might technological progress and biological degeneration occur simultaneously?

We cannot recognise biological loss if we have forgotten what the original capacity was.

Without investigating our evolutionary ancestry in context, we risk interpreting every contemporary biological characteristic exclusively through the lens of modern conditions. In doing that we fail to recognise ancestral biological advantages, trade-offs or capacities that have become less common, differently expressed and/or environmentally disadvantaged.

I hate it when people who haven't done the research tell me I'm wrong. I don't owe anyone a debate, especially when they are not literate enough to understand why they are wrong. They are usually the people who claim to know everything, and they don't even read the articles before passing judgement. If you haven't read hundreds of papers across disciplines then I'm really not interested in your negative opinion of my work, thank you.

Appreciation to those who are here with open minds, holding the complexity. Those who ask questions and want to learn. You are certainly a glorious minority.

Divergent Genomics is my own intellectual framework because after reading hundreds of academic papers across disciplines I wasn't happy with the prevailing narrative. That doesn't mean I don't follow science, because everything I say is rooted in mechanistic scientific evidence.

You don't have to agree with me, but if you tell me I'm wrong in the comments when I have demonstrated evidence.. then there is nothing for you here..You will be blocked.
