The first cohort of Community First Responders for 2025 have completed their initial training at the Academy in Sandwell, officially becoming part of ! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘

The 17 new CFRs will now go on to join one of 75 schemes across the region. πŸ’š

Wondering how Community First Responders receive their training? πŸš‘

All training for Community First Responders will be provided by West Midlands Ambulance Service at their ambulance hub in Sandwell.

πŸ“š During your training, you'll acquire vital skills such as patient history taking, recording observations like vital signs, and managing a range of medical conditions while awaiting the arrival of an ambulance.

You'll be expertly prepared to handle emergencies, from seizures and choking to the critical response needed for cardiac arrest situations.

Stay calm πŸ’š:

β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή Call 9️⃣9️⃣9️⃣ and start CPR
β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή Follow the call assessor’s instructions
β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉIf a defibrillator is nearby, the call assessor can instruct someone to get it
β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή Keep CPR going until emergency services arrive
