✨Inviting applications for a Male Border Terrier✨

We have been made aware of an 8 year old Male neutered Border Terrier in need of a new home, due to fighting with other dogs in the household.

He will need a more rural home with no other dogs resident or visiting regularly, as he is moderately reactive to dogs out and about, and has fallen out with and fought with another dog in his current home.

He is good with people and has been raised around children, has no health issues and has otherwise been a much loved part of the family.

Applicants will need to be willing to accept a reactive dog.

Suzy - making progress after her patellar op. Thank you to everyone who has been contributing towards her vets fees. We still have a way to go to clear the full amount but on the right path.

✨Norman✨

4yr old Norman came onto our radar a couple of months ago as a dog that needed to be re-homed as his owners life circumstances were due to drastically change, including a move to a different countrynand vastly changing work and lifestyle hours, and it was in Normans' best interests to find a new home.

Norman wasnt in any immediate need to come directly in to our rescue, and we have been able to support a smooth transition from old home to new forever home over the weeks.

This began with us speaking with Normans' humans and taking a thorough character profile of him, and then looking through our applications held on file to find a potential perfect match.

After completing a home check, we were able to place new and current families in contact with each other, and co-ordinate meet and greets etc to ensure he was a perfect fit, eventually leading to Norman moving in with his new, forever family.

Norman and his new family now always have us at the end of the phone or Whatsapp for support, and will have full Rescue Backup for life for Norman.

When circumstances allow, we are happy to facilitate home to home rehomes like these, if there is no particular need for the dog to come and physically be with us in rescue.

✨Suzy Update ✨

Many of you will remember Suzy, an 8 yr old BT who was recently adopted from us to her new family, after living in kennels all her life.
Sadly while with us, Suzy was diagnosed with a luxating Patellar (slipping kneecap) of quite a high grade. After consulting with specialists, it was agreed that in order for Suzy to have the best possible quality of life going forward, and to keep her as free of pain and discomfort as possible, that she should have the knee repaired surgically.
As Suzy had lived outside until this point, we didn't want to delay getting her into her forever home, so we agreed with her lovely adopters that Suzy should have the repair at our specialist vets, at cost to the rescue, after they adopted her.

Today they returned to South Wales for Suzy to have her op. All went well and Suzy is now comfortably recovering and is doing really well - however this has left us with a £2k bill with the potential for more at followup.

Luxating Patellars are common in small breed dogs and are relatively common in border terriers, often causing a characteristic "skip" in the back leg, as the kneecap slides in and out of place. This can cause pain and discomfort for the dog, and is often a contributing factor to issues such as reactivity - which is often worse when pain is present, however terriers are very stoic, and often "just get on with it" instead of showing outward signs of discomfort.

Luxating patellars are easy to check for and most general vets will be able to assess your dogs' knees if you suspect they may have it. It is often inherited, so a responsible breeder wouldn't breed from a dog with a slipping kneecap.

🐭 Mouse Update! 🐭

Mouse has been working her way through all of the very generous gifts that has been sent her way. She is one spoiled pup!

She is still not showing any signs or symptoms of her illness, and is growing up like a normal pup. . She regularly attends work with her fosterers (they are a vet nurse and vet) and gets absolutely loads of attention!

Here she is with her puppy pal Wilson on a lunch break walk. ( Wilson is NOT available for adoption and belongs to Mouse's fosterers... Before we are inundated with messages 🤭.)

Betty (previously Beattie) returned to see me today, she went to one of my grooming customers so it’s just the best to see her. She had a bit of a transformation and considering she was previously clipped she’s stripped back ok.
