We held a raffle today at our local open show and thanks to kind donations from border terrier supporters and local friends we raised a fantastic £152 ! That’s half the cost of a straightforward spay or a dental!!

Massive thanks to Gareth the show sec for allowing the raffle and everyone for their kind support in buying tickets and donating! Massive thanks to Wyn Davies who very kindly went around selling the tickets for us🙂

If you want to run a raffle at an event for us we would be most grateful. Cake bakes, bingos and raffles etc are all fantastic ways of raising money.

Ned, he’s lovely. His teeth are a bit grubby with tarter so I ve given him one of my new ostrich bones to help reduce his plaque……Koala Pets is where I get mine from.

He’s also a big lover of balls and couldn’t decide which is better 🤣

Mona Update

Remember Mona is here today because of you all…… Mona was a very very costly rescue and we couldn’t have done it without all your donations…

A lot of you will remember Mona due to her having a gall bladder op. Mona has recovered well and living her best life here in Pembrokeshire, she is with Anne who fostered Hugo and Dexter.

She bounced back from the op and adores her little jack russell pal. 👏

Ostrict bone. Suzy is a big bone fan. She has really good teeth so imagine she’s had plenty of bones. She’s also not a fan of kibble and much prefers raw food. Luckily my dogs are raw fed so actually makes life easier 🙂

Teeth!!! Keeping teeth clean!!

I am a massive fan of ostrict bones to keep my dogs teeth clean, I am very fussy what my dogs have as worry about the risk of bones etc. I groom lots of borders in Pembrokeshire and always reccomend them to customers with mostly good results. They clean tarter off the rear teeth really well. Odd dogs don’t like them but mine do and have fab teeth. I usually buy from Amazon same guy bones turn up really quickly but recently I only received half the order. I messaged the company who are resending the missing bones and discovered they are local to me!!

So please give this local business your support and buy direct not off Amazon. If your dog loves chewing and you want to maintain clean teeth buy these. Obviously with all bones you need to keep a watching eye on the dogs.

They have a honeycomb centre on the large ones (only ones I buy) and once they have chewed of the joint I bin and buy again.

✨Suzy Update✨

Suzy has been to the vet and had results from her bloods and urine sample, as well as a physical workup to look at her leg issues.

She currently has a UTI and is now on medication for that. Her urine also had bilirubin crystals, which can be symptomatic of a few things including gallbladder issues, she also had Glucose in her urine, which again could potentially signify issues such as diabetes, however the vet stressed that her UTI may be throwing results off - so we are concentrating on treating that first, before testing further for both the bilirubin and glucose causes in a couple of weeks time once the infection has cleared. Her blood work all looks reasonable for her age.

She has a low grade luxating patella (slipping kneecap) which is why she has a hopping gait. We are hoping the stability will improve when she loses weight (she's 2kg over!) and builds better muscle around the joint, however we are going to seek further advice on this, and will consider surgery and/or physio if necessary.

She has also now had her full course of vaccinations.
