Finding the return to routine harder than you expected?

After the different pace of summer, getting back to work, university, commuting or family routines can take more out of us than we realise.

You might feel more tired, less focused, overwhelmed by your to-do list or simply a bit out of sorts. And for neurodivergent people, changes in routine can bring additional sensory, social and organisational demands too.

You don’t need to go from summer mode to full speed overnight. Give yourself a little time to adjust, bring back some structure gradually and focus on what really needs your attention.

Sometimes transitions just take a bit of extra energy 💙

🎉 Big news! We’re finalists!

We’re delighted to share that Shore Psychology has been named a finalist for the Social Enterprise Scotland Awards – One to Watch category for the second year running! 💙

It means so much to have our work recognised again, particularly after another year of growing our impact and finding new ways to make psychology, mental health and neurodiversity support more accessible.

A huge thank you to our brilliant team, clients, partners and wider Shore community who continue to be part of what we’re building.

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come — and even more excited about where we’re heading next.

🤞 Wish us luck!

School starts next week.

If you’ve spent the summer wondering whether your child might have ADHD or Autism, you’re not alone.

Many parents notice differences during the holidays, or worry about how their child will cope when school routines begin again.

Our Preliminary Assessment is designed to help you understand what might be going on, without committing to a full diagnostic assessment.

You’ll leave with:
✔ A 90-minute appointment with an experienced clinician
✔ Screening for both ADHD and Autism
✔ A written summary and clear recommendations for next steps

Sometimes, reassurance is enough. Sometimes, it’s the first step towards a full assessment. Either way, you’ll have greater clarity and confidence.

Appointments are available now.

📞 Call 0131 378 9700 to book.

Exam results are just one moment in your story. 💙

Whether you’re feeling excited, relieved, disappointed, uncertain, or a mixture of all of them, every emotion is valid.

Results day can feel overwhelming, but remember:
✨ Your grades don’t measure your worth.
✨ There are always options and next steps.
✨ You don’t have to navigate it alone.

Swipe through for five simple ways to help stay calm on results day, and if you know someone receiving their results this week, send this to them as a reminder that they’re so much more than a set of numbers.

We’re wishing everyone receiving their results the very best of luck. 💙

Here are some statistics about ADHD in the UK – numbers that highlight not only how common ADHD is, but also how many people may be going without the help they need.
• Around 3–4% of the UK population are living with ADHD.
• Many remain undiagnosed due to lack of awareness or long NHS waiting lists.
• Men are diagnosed more often than women, even though prevalence is thought to be equal.
• ADHD and Autism often overlap, making assessment and support more complex.
• Since Covid-19, prescriptions for ADHD medication have risen sharply.
• Research shows clear links between trauma and ADHD symptoms.

At Shore Psychology, we’re here to help. Our clinicians provide:
✅ Full neurodiversity assessments with minimal waiting times
✅ Preliminary ADHD screeners (£240) to guide next steps
✅ The only joint ADHD/Autism (AuDHD) assessment available in Edinburgh
✅ Access to support and therapies that improve executive functioning

We believe in accessible, trauma-informed, neuro-affirming care.

Have you noticed that everyday things are taking a bit more effort?

Replying to messages.
Making decisions.
Concentrating.
Keeping on top of the washing.
Being patient.
Getting out of the door.

It’s easy to tell ourselves we’re just busy, tired, hormonal or having an off week.

And sometimes that’s exactly what it is.

But if lots of little things start feeling harder than usual—or that feeling doesn’t seem to lift—it might be your mind and body asking you to pay attention.

Rather than pushing through, try getting curious.

Ask yourself:

• What’s changed recently?
• Am I sleeping differently?
• Am I feeling more reactive than usual?
• Am I avoiding things I’d normally manage?
• Am I withdrawing from people or feeling overwhelmed more easily?
• How much energy am I spending just trying to appear “fine”?

You don’t need to solve everything today.

Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is notice what’s happening and make one small thing easier for yourself.

Our free Traffic Light Tool can help you recognise your own Green, Amber and Red signs, so you can spot when you’re moving towards overload and think about the support that helps at each stage.
