🚲⚠️ Lidl Plan in Leighton Buzzard: Pedestrians and Cyclists Left Behind! βš οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

BuzzCycles is urging planners to prioritise walking and cycling in the proposed new Lidl development off Billington Road. While we appreciate the new shopping options and employment opportunities, the current plans severely neglect active travel.

πŸ‘‰ Read our full analysis here: https://buzzcycles.org.uk/2025/03/15/lidl-plan-pedestrians-and-cyclists-left-behind/

We've found:

Inconsistencies and omissions in the planning documents.
A clear lack of priority for pedestrians and cyclists over vehicles.
Inadequate infrastructure, including narrow footways and missing protected crossings.
Unsafe junction designs, especially at Billington Road.
Ambiguous commitments to improvements.
While cycle stands are provided, more is needed to ensure safe and accessible travel for everyone.

This application (CB/25/00576/) prioritises cars, contradicting local and national policies that promote active travel. Your objections matter!

Ideas for your objection:

"I object due to the prioritisation of vehicles over pedestrian and cyclist safety."
"This plan fails to provide adequate and safe access for pedestrians and cyclists."
"The junction design at Billington Road is unsafe for vulnerable road users."
Let's make Leighton Buzzard safer and more accessible for everyone!
