This , we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers at Leicester Navy Cadets, both our uniformed instructors and committee members.

While cadets and parents see the exciting activities, training and events that take place each week, there are countless hours of planning, administration, logistics and behind-the-scenes work that often go unnoticed. From organising activities and managing paperwork to maintaining equipment and supporting the unit’s day-to-day running, our volunteers’ dedication is vital in ensuring the unit can continue to operate and provide opportunities for Leicester’s young people!

Have you ever considered volunteering? Joining Leicester Navy Cadets is a great way to learn new skills, gain qualifications, and make a positive impact on the lives of local young people.

If you’d like to find out more about becoming part of our team, we’d love to hear from you!

What a weekend on the water! 🌊⚓

Last weekend, our cadets took part in a fantastic boating camp packed with learning, teamwork and plenty of time afloat. Throughout the weekend, cadets developed their skills across a range of craft including our powerboat Lilibet, kayaks, the rowboat, SUPs and the bell boat.

From mastering paddle techniques to building confidence as the Coxswain, it was brilliant to see everyone getting stuck in, supporting each other and making the brilliant weather. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers instructors who made the weekend possible.

Look out for many more exciting opportunities to come as we approach a very busy summer training season!

Last weekend, a small group of our volunteers took on a challenging 40km recce hike across two days as part of preparations for an advanced expedition we hope to launch in the near future 🥾

Following the success of our 20km January expedition, this is the next step in ensuring we can deliver another exciting opportunity for our cadets.

It was a great chance to test the route and start piecing together what promises to be an exciting challenge.

But where do you think it could be? 👀

Keep your eyes peeled for further details soon.

Another action-packed week at Leicester Navy Cadets!

Our Naval Division have been out on the water sharpening their rowing technique and putting their reactions to the test with man overboard drills using our trusty Ruth Lee Ltd training dummy. Meanwhile, our Marine Cadets have been embracing life in the field, learning to cook from scratch on improvised stoves built by Sgt Preston – a lesson in resilience and ingenuity.

Not to be outdone, our Junior Cadets have been making the most of the water too, developing their teamwork and confidence while paddling the bell boat. They were also delighted to receive a generous donation of bamboo water bottles from Fusion 360 Group, which were very gratefully received by all.

Both our rowing boat and powerboat are back where they belong—on the water and in action. It’s been fantastic to see our cadets getting hands-on again, building confidence and teamwork with every outing.
