๐Ÿ† Another incredible recognition for our CEO, Suki Kaur

We are incredibly proud to share that Freeva CEO Suki Kaur has been shortlisted for the Lifetime Recognition Award at the Helpline Awards 2026, hosted by Helplines Partnership.

This recognition celebrates the dedication, commitment and lasting impact of people who have given so much to supporting others, and it feels particularly special during Freevaโ€™s 20th year.

For Suki, it is also the second major recognition of her leadership this year.

๐Ÿ’™ Lifetime Recognition Award finalist, Helpline Awards 2026
๐Ÿ’š Inspiring Leader of the Year finalist, VAL Awards 2026

Behind both nominations are years of commitment to ensuring that people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence are heard, believed and able to access the support they need.

But leadership at Freeva has never simply been about one person. It is about listening to survivors, supporting our teams, building partnerships and continuing to respond as the needs of our communities change.

As we mark 20 years of Freeva, this recognition feels like a particularly meaningful moment, celebrating not only how far we have come, but the people who continue to drive that change forward.

From everyone at Freeva, congratulations Suki. We are incredibly proud of you. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

The Helpline Awards winners will be announced on 12 November 2026.

Your Community. Your Support.

Freeva was proud to be part of Your Community, Your Support in Hinckley yesterday, bringing local organisations together to help people connect with the support available across their community.

Events like this really matter. They give people the opportunity to have conversations, ask questions, discover services they may not have known existed and, importantly, know where they can turn if they ever need support.

For Freeva, being visible within our communities is an important part of what we do. Domestic abuse and sexual violence can affect anyone, and sometimes simply knowing that support is there can be the first step towards reaching out.

It was lovely to meet so many local people and to stand alongside organisations working across health, wellbeing and community support.

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ London to Brighton, ยฃ4,000 raised for Freeva! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

A huge thank you to Shane Gwinnutt, Claudia Gwinnut and Peter Totays, who took on the incredible London to Brighton Cycle Ride and raised nearly ยฃ4,000 for Freeva along the way.

Now, you may have noticed there are plenty of photos of Shane and Peter... and absolutely none of Claudia. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We promise Claudia really was there! Apparently, she was just cycling far too fast for the camera. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ

Every mile they cycled, every hill they climbed and every donation they received will help Freeva continue supporting people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Fundraising challenges like this are about so much more than reaching the finish line. They raise awareness, start conversations and help make sure people know that support is there when they need it.

Shane, Claudia and Peter, thank you for choosing to ride for Freeva, and thank you to everyone who supported and sponsored them. What an achievement. ๐Ÿ’š

Every mile makes a difference.

National Inclusion Week 2026 ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Creating Change. Including Everyone.

This National Inclusion Week, weโ€™re proud to stand alongside organisations across the UK recognising this yearโ€™s theme, โ€œBuild Trust. Navigate Change.โ€

At Freeva, inclusion is more than a workplace value. It shapes how we work, how we listen and how we support people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We work hard to create an environment where our staff and volunteers feel valued, respected and able to bring their whole selves to what they do. Just as importantly, we want every person who reaches out to Freeva to know that they will be listened to without judgement and treated with dignity, compassion and respect.

Domestic abuse and sexual violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, disability, culture or background. Our responsibility is to keep listening, learning and removing barriers so that support feels accessible to everyone who needs us.

Change can bring uncertainty. Trust takes time to build. But by creating spaces where people feel safe, heard and included, we can help build stronger workplaces, stronger services and stronger communities.

Because inclusion isnโ€™t something we focus on for just one week.

Itโ€™s something we work towards every day. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’› World Su***de Prevention Day | 10 September

Sometimes, the person who feels they cannot go on is also the person who has spent a long time simply trying to survive.

Domestic abuse and sexual violence can leave impacts that are not always visible.

Fear. Isolation. Shame. Trauma. Feeling trapped. Losing a sense of who you are.

For some people, that pain can become overwhelming.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, the theme is Changing the Narrative on Su***de, with a simple but powerful call to action:

Start the conversation.

At Freeva, we want to add something to that conversation.

If domestic abuse or sexual violence is part of what you are carrying, you do not have to explain everything at once. You do not have to have made a decision about what happens next. And you do not have to wait until things become unbearable before reaching out.

We will listen and support.

And if you are worried about someone else, reaching out matters too. A message. A conversation. Asking twice if they are really OK. Listening without judgement.

Sometimes, being heard can be the beginning of something changing.

You deserve to be heard.
You deserve support.
There is hope beyond what is happening today.

๐ŸŒˆ Leicester Pride 2026, what a day! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Colour, music, laughter, conversations and a wonderful sense of community.

We had such a brilliant day at Leicester Pride, meeting so many people, catching up with familiar faces and sharing more about the support available through Freeva.

Pride is a celebration, but it is also an important reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, accepted and able to be themselves.

For anyone affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence, whoever you are, however you identify and whatever your circumstances, Freeva is here to listen and support you without judgement.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, spoke to the team, picked up information, shared a smile, or helped themselves to a sweet or two! ๐Ÿฌ๐ŸŒˆ

And to everyone who made Leicester Pride such a vibrant, welcoming day, thank you for having us.

Support. Safety. Freedom. For everyone. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

THEY TOOK THE LEAPโ€ฆ AND WHAT A LEAP IT WAS!

A HUGE thank you to Dylan, Charlie, Mya and Debbie, who took to the skies for Freeva and quite literally threw themselves into supporting our work!

There were nerves. There were laughs. There were some very brave faces. And then there was the small matter of jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplaneโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜‚

Most importantly, Dylan, Charlie, Mya and Debbie raised vital funds for Freeva, helping us continue to be there for people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We are incredibly grateful to all of you, and to everyone who supported, encouraged and sponsored them.

But waitโ€ฆ
You may have noticed our fearless team weren't quite the full cast.

Unfortunately, the Great British weather had other ideas, and some of our remaining skydivers weren't able to make their jumps. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

But, like all good action moviesโ€ฆ
๐ŸŽฌ THIS STORY ISN'T OVER.

The jumps have been rearranged and our remaining daredevils will get their moment in the sky.

So keep watching becauseโ€ฆ
FREEVA: THE SKYDIVE SEQUEL
Coming soon. ๐Ÿ‘€

Will they be brave?
Will the weather behave?
Will anybody question why jumping out of an aeroplane seemed like a good idea in the first place?

You'll have to wait and seeโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‚

For now, Dylan, Charlie, Mya and Debbie, you absolutely smashed it.

Thank you from all at Freeva and those that will benefit from your support๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š Celebrating two very special Freeva anniversaries! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™

This August, weโ€™re celebrating two of our wonderful Trustees and thanking them for the years of commitment, guidance and support they have given to Freeva.

๐ŸŽ‰ Dr Nicole Fayard joined Freeva on 28 August 2014, marking an incredible 12 years as a Trustee.

๐ŸŽ‰ David Martin joined us on 29 August 2019, celebrating 7 years with Freeva.

Being a Trustee is so much more than attending meetings. Itโ€™s about believing in what an organisation stands for, helping to shape its future, asking the important questions and standing alongside the people who work every day to make that vision a reality.

Over the years, Nicole and David have seen Freeva grow, evolve and respond to the changing needs of people and communities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, while remaining committed to one fundamental belief, that everyone deserves to live a life free from violence and abuse.

As Freeva celebrates 20 years of listening, supporting and creating change, people like Nicole and David are an important part of that story.

Nicole and David, thank you for the time, knowledge, care and commitment you continue to give to Freeva. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Please join us in wishing them both a very happy Freeva anniversary! ๐ŸŽ‰
