Celebrating the people who make workplaces safer, every single day.

IOSH’s workplace photoshoot competition is coming back soon, giving members the chance to shine a light on the real impact they’re making in occupational safety and health.

Our latest winner, Mark Nixon, Chartered Member and Health and Safety Manager at Don‑Bur Bodies and Trailers Ltd, showed exactly what this competition is all about. His photoshoot captured how he’s strengthening safety culture, embedding IOSH training and using tools like CPD and Blueprint to stay ahead in a fast‑moving profession.

“Being a Chartered IOSH professional means more than just being a safety professional, it means I’m at the pinnacle of my career.”

Mark’s story is a brilliant reminder of the dedication, leadership and passion that drive our profession forward.

“Be a sponge.”
That’s the advice from Macauley Quinn, HSE Manager for the RFU and IOSH Vice-President and it’s a mindset every early‑career OSH professional can benefit from.

You won’t have all the answers when you start out.
But you can stay curious.
You can ask questions.
You can lean on mentors, push back when needed, and soak up every bit of learning that comes your way. That’s how real confidence and competence grow.

For Mac, the best part of working in health and safety is the people, supporting them, helping them develop, and working with a diverse network that makes you better every single day.

And that’s exactly what the IOSH Future Leaders Community offers:
a place to learn, connect, grow, and shape the kind of OSH professional you want to become.
