Father's Day can be a difficult day for bereaved dads. While many people are celebrating, you may be thinking about the day you imagined having, or wondering where you fit into it now.

The truth is that losing a child doesn't stop you being a dad.

In our latest blog, we explore some ways bereaved dads can navigate Father's Day, from taking a break from social media to finding meaningful ways to feel connected to their child.

If Father's Day feels difficult this year, we hope it helps.

When you're a bereaved dad, Father's Day can be really complicated. You might feel sadness, anger, pride, guilt, gratitude or loneliness. You might feel all of those things before you've even had your first coffee of the day. You may also find yourself wondering where you fit into Father's Day now.....

They did it! 💙 Steph and Michelle completed their skydive in memory of Steph's son, Billy, and raised a whopping £3,500 for The Laura Centre.

We're so grateful to Steph and Michelle for choosing to support our charity, and for honouring Billy's memory through such a courageous challenge.

Thank you to everyone who attended the fundraiser or cheered them on. And thank you to The C**k Inn for their fantastic support, and all of the local businesses who donated to Steph and Michelle's raffle.

Every pound raised will help us continue being there for bereaved children, young people and parents when they need support most.

In April, Andrea and ten friends took on the Cathedral to Castle 10-mile race in memory of her son, Morgan. Together, they raised an incredible £3,000 for The Laura Centre.

Following Morgan's passing last year, the challenge was a meaningful way to honour his memory, and bring together friends and family who wanted to make a difference for other bereaved families.

A huge thank you to Andrea and everyone who took part, donated and supported the fundraiser!

For many children, the death of a pet is their first experience of grief.

Whether it's a dog they grew up with, a cat who slept on their bed every night or a much-loved hamster, losing a pet can be a huge loss for a child and one that adults sometimes underestimate.

Our latest guide explores how to talk to children about the death of a pet, answer difficult questions and help them remember their pet in a way that feels meaningful and supportive.

For many children, the death of a pet is their first real experience of grief. Whether it’s a dog they grew up with, a cat who slept on their bed every night or even a hamster they checked on every morning before school, pets become part of a child’s world and routine. So when

Exam season can be a really difficult time for young people who are grieving.

If you're revising while coping with the death of someone important to you, it's completely normal to find concentration harder, motivation lower and emotions closer to the surface than usual.

Here are some practical tips that might help this time feel a bit more manageable.

And remember - if you're finding things particularly hard right now, you don't have to face it alone. At The Laura Centre, we're here to help.

Tomorrow's the day that Steph and Michelle will be skydiving out of a plane in memory of Steph's son, Billy.

Jumping from thousands of feet in the air is no small challenge, but thanks to their determination and the generosity of their loved ones, they've already raised an amazing £1,330 for The Laura Centre!

We're so grateful to both Steph and Michelle for choosing to support bereaved families, and for keeping Billy's memory at the heart of this challenge.

Good luck tomorrow, ladies - we'll be cheering you on every step (and every jump!) of the way.

Over the weekend, we held our Annual Memorial Service at St James the Greater Church.

Together, we took time to remember and reflect on the loved ones we have lost through readings, music and shared moments of remembrance.

We were incredibly moved by the beautiful readings from clients and performances from TLC Voices, which made the service feel so special.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared memories and helped create such a warm and supportive atmosphere. It was a privilege to remember your loved ones alongside you 💙

There are still so many misconceptions around depression and mental health.

Sometimes this can make people feel misunderstood, judged or unable to ask for support when they need it most.

That’s why conversations like this matter. The more we challenge common myths around depression, the easier it becomes for people to speak openly about how they’re feeling and access support without shame.

If you need guidance when it comes to helping a loved one with depression, our recent blog might help - https://thelauracentre.org.uk/how-to-help-someone-with-depression/

Stress and anxiety are words a lot of us use interchangeably, especially when life feels overwhelming. But while they can feel very similar, they’re not always the same thing.

Our latest blog explores the difference between stress and anxiety, how both can affect our mental and physical wellbeing, and when it might be a good idea to reach out for extra support.

If things have been feeling a bit heavy lately, we hope this helps you feel a little more understood.

In everyday conversations, people regularly say they feel 'stressed' or 'anxious' interchangeably, especially during difficult and overwhelming periods. But while stress and anxiety can feel very similar, there are important differences between them. Understanding these differences can help us bette...
