❤️ THURSDAY FOOD HUB – HOT FOOD, FRIENDLY FACES & A PLACE TO BELONG ❤️

Another busy Thursday at Help The Homeless Leicester, and today we’ve been serving up pizza, chips, chocolate croissants and twisters. 🍕🍟🥐😋

For many people who come through our doors, it starts with a hot meal, but our hub is about so much more than food.

It’s a place where people can sit down, have a chat and know that somebody cares. Whether someone is sleeping rough, living in temporary accommodation or simply facing difficult times, everyone is welcomed with kindness, respect and dignity. ❤️

Every week, your support makes this possible. Your donations help us provide food, practical support and that all-important human connection that can make such a difference to someone’s day.

❤️ THURSDAY FOOD HUB – MORE THAN JUST A MEAL

Another busy Thursday at Help The Homeless Leicester, and today we served up fresh samosa cobs alongside some delicious freshly made flapjacks. 😋

For many of the people who walk through our doors, the food is what brings them in, but the hub is about so much more.

It’s a place to sit down, have something to eat, have a conversation and know that someone is there to listen. Whether someone is homeless, newly accommodated or simply going through a difficult period, our doors are open. ❤️

Week after week, your donations and support allow us to keep providing food, practical help and that all-important human connection.

👶❤️ NAPPY APPEAL – WE NEED THE BIGGER SIZES!

We’re putting out another appeal for the families we support, and this time we particularly need larger-size nappies.

When a family is already struggling with food, accommodation and everyday bills, the constant cost of nappies can become another pressure they simply don’t need.

If you’re shopping this week, could you add a pack of larger nappies to your trolley and drop them into us? 🛒 Even one pack will make a genuine difference to a family.

Businesses, supermarkets and organisations that may be able to donate in larger quantities, we’d also love to hear from you. 🙏

And please SHARE and REPOST this video. You might not need nappies yourself, but someone in your network may be able to help us fill our shelves. ❤️

❤️ Thursday at our Weekly Food Hub

Today we had plenty of comfort food on the menu:

🍕 Pizza
🥗 Homemade coleslaw
🧇 Hot waffles

But what happens around the tables is just as important as what’s served on them.

Alongside lunch, we had support appointments available for people needing help with housing, benefits and other issues they may be struggling to navigate.

Sometimes food is what brings someone through our doors. A conversation afterwards can be the first step towards getting their life back on track.

That’s why our hub will always be about more than feeding people. It’s food, advice, support, dignity and somewhere people know they can turn when they need help. ❤️

Your support keeps all of this going:

🚨 OUR FOODBANK NEEDS YOUR HELP 🚨

Demand is continuing to rise, and we need your help to keep our shelves stocked for the individuals and families who rely on us every week. ❤️

Next time you’re shopping, could you add just one or two extra items to your basket?

🍜 Pot Noodles
🥫 Tinned foods & meats
🍫 Chocolate bars
🥔 Crisps
☕ Coffee
🍚 Sugar

One person buying a few items might not feel like much — but imagine what happens when hundreds of us do it together.

🏢 BUSINESSES — WE NEED YOU TOO!

We can provide your workplace with one of our foodbank wheelie bins. Simply host it, encourage your employees and customers to donate, fill it up and we’ll collect it.

It’s an incredibly simple way to put CSR and community support into action and make a visible difference in the area where you operate.

Our shelves need filling because more people are asking for help. Please SHARE and REPOST this video — even if you can’t donate, helping this appeal reach the right person or business could fill an entire bin.

☀️ 35°C outside means our Thursday Hub has to adapt. ❤️

With the temperature soaring, today we’re serving food that’s cool, fresh and refreshing:

🥗 Chicken salad
🥔 Potato salad
🐟 Tuna salad

And because extreme heat brings a completely different set of challenges for people experiencing homelessness or hardship, we’ve also got:

💧 Ice-cold water
🍦 Ice lollies & ice creams
🧴 Suncream for anyone who needs it

Our support doesn’t stop when winter ends. Whether it’s keeping people warm in freezing temperatures or cool and hydrated in a heatwave, we adapt our services to what people need at that moment.

And as always, our doors are open for food, advice, support or simply somewhere safe to sit and get out of the heat. ❤️

Today was about something many of us take for granted… making memories as a family. ❤️

We were delighted to host a Family Picnic Day for the families we support, including those currently living in temporary accommodation and those we’ve helped in the past.

Over 60 adults and children from more than 20 families came together for a day filled with:
🧺 Great food
⚽️ Games and activities
😊 Laughter and smiles
🌳 Space for children to run, play and simply be children

For families experiencing homelessness or financial hardship, opportunities like this can be few and far between. A simple afternoon in the park can provide a welcome break from the pressures of daily life, strengthen family bonds and create memories that last far longer than the day itself.

Seeing children laughing freely and parents relaxing together is a reminder that our work isn’t just about providing food or practical support. It’s about restoring normality, building confidence and giving families moments of happiness during difficult times.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today so special. Together, we’re not just changing lives, we’re creating memories that every family deserves. 💛

With temperatures climbing above 30°C, we’re putting out an urgent summer appeal ❤️

We’re looking for donations of:

👕 T-shirts
🩳 Shorts
🧢 Lightweight clothing

Many of the people we support are still wearing thick winter clothing because it’s all they own. In this heat, that can quickly become uncomfortable and even dangerous.

If you’re having a clear-out, please consider dropping your unwanted summer clothing to us at:

📍 Help The Homeless Leicester
Camden Street, Leicester, LE1

We’re also gratefully accepting:
💧 Bottled water
🧃 Soft drinks
🍦 Ice lollies

These simple items can make a huge difference to someone spending hours outdoors during this heatwave.

Every donation helps us keep people safe, comfortable and cared for. Please share this post so we can reach as many people as possible.

Another fantastic Thursday at our Hot Food Hub ❤️

Today we served:
🍔 Burgers
🍰 A delicious selection of cheesecakes
🍦 Ice cream to help everyone cool down in the warm weather

But today wasn’t just about the food…

This week also marks one whole year since our incredible barber started volunteering with us 💈❤️

Week after week, without asking for anything in return, he has given his time, skill and kindness to provide free haircuts and shaves for our service users.

A haircut might seem like a small thing, but for someone who has fallen on hard times, it can restore confidence, dignity and self-worth. It helps people feel seen, valued and ready to face another day.

Thank you for an amazing year of service. Your commitment has changed countless lives, one haircut at a time.

If you’d like to support the work we do every Thursday, we’d love to hear from you.

34°C outside… but inside our Thursday Hub, we’re doing everything we can to help people stay safe. ❤️

Today’s lunch was all about keeping cool, with fresh, refreshing salads 🥗 instead of heavier meals, while our air conditioning is on full blast to give people a break from the relentless heat.

We’re also providing:
💧 Chilled bottled water
🍦 Ice lollies
🧴 Suncream

People often think homelessness is only dangerous in winter, but extreme heat brings a whole new set of challenges. Dehydration, sunburn, heat exhaustion and heatstroke can become very real risks for those spending hours outdoors.

That’s why we constantly adapt. As the seasons change, so do the needs of the people we support. Whether it’s hot meals in freezing temperatures or hydration and cooling during a heatwave, we’re always evolving to meet the challenges our community faces.

It’s this ability to respond quickly and provide the right support at the right time that allows us to continue growing and delivering an effective service for those who need us most.

If you’d like to help us keep people safe during this hot weather, we’d love your support.
