After18 After 18 is a charity for unaccompanied young people aged 13-25 in Leicester. Through a broad progra Once a young person turns 18 they face many challenges.

After18 was founded in 2013 in response to the number of unaccompanied children in Leicester who were asking for support. Children as young as 11 have been travelling to the UK alone (without their family) fleeing war and persecution in their home country. As children can not be returned to an unsafe place they are allowed to remain in the UK while they are a child. Many are expected to return to

unfamiliar cities in their country while those allowed to stay must learn how to adjust to living in the UK. After18 works to support young people to transition into adulthood and prepare for their future. We aim to be a trusted source of information for young people – whatever their country of origin – to find out about life in the UK. We were delighted to welcome Ironmongers to visit our education drop-in!

It was a lovely opportunity for the young people who benefit from this session, as well as our volunteers and staff, to connect with our supporters and showcase all the amazing work happening.

This International Women's Day, we celebrate all of the young women and girls we've worked with at After18! It is amazing seeing them come together, share their ambitions, make friends, and impact each other's lives in wonderful ways.

We also celebrate the countless women past and present who have supported our work and helped young people thrive. This year's theme is Give to Gain, celebrating and encouraging generosity and collaboration.
